City of Mendota Heights is a first-ring suburb with a small town feel and big city amenities, overlooking the scenic confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers. Mendota Heights is home to more than 11,700 residents and a multitude of businesses.

Mendota Heights operates under the Plan A form of government, the most common type of city government in Minnesota. The City Council consists of a mayor and four council members, who delegate all administrative duties to the City Administrator.

Each year, the City provides numerous opportunities for the community to engage in natural resources maintenance and preservation.

UTILITIES Water St. Paul Regional Water Services provides water to Mendota Heights residents, maintains water lines and hydrants, and bills its customers directly. Contact St. Paul Water at 651-266-6350 for information regarding service and billings.

Sewer The City of Mendota Heights uses the funds collected from your quarterly sanitary sewer bill to operate, maintain, and upgrade the infrastructure that removes wastewater from your property. If you are a new homeowner, you need to change the sewer service account to your name, please call 651-452-1850.

RECYCLING All residential and commercial properties, including multifamily, in Dakota County must recycle. The City works closely with Dakota County to provide recycling education, events and resources. Trash haulers licensed in Mendota Heights must offer weekly curbside recycling pickup.

OHEYAWAHE Located at 2100 Pilot Knob Rd., Oheyawahe is a 112-acre site in Mendota Heights on the National Register of Historic Places. Overlooking the confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers, the site is considered sacred by Dakota people; the name Oheyawahe can be translated as, “A sacred place much visited; the place where people go for burials.” Learn more at MendotaHeightsMN.gov/Oheyawahe.

Code Regulations Parking is prohibited on City streets from 2–6 a.m. Nov. 1 to March 31, to facilitate snow removal.

Animals habitually barking or crying are considered a nuisance if they are making noise for more than five minutes, with one minute or less between episodes.
