DIRECTOR’S NOTES Working on Lockdown has been quite a journey. Although we encountered some obstacles, what has made this experience fun and inspiring is the great attitude of the student cast and crew, the mentors and my one adult cast member, Pamela. I think the hardest part of directing this particular play was wondering, how much do I want the cast to really feel what it’s like to be in an actual school lockdown? It is an untenable and terrifying reality; how do we make that terror and uncertainty bearable? Our young cast and crew are strong, creative, smart, funny and resiliant. I applaud them and am in awe of their lion hearts.! Lorry Lepaule, director

forming for as long as she can remember. She has performed with Mendocino Community Center, Gloriana Musical Theater, Caspar Creek, Mendocino Theater Company and MCHS.“Doing this play with what happened In Texas makes this even more real, and I hope that none of us have to experience that, My heart goes out to families involved in the Ulvalde shooting.”
old and attends Mendocino High School. He has been acting in theater productions since he was in kindergarten, but this is his first time in a production with MTC. “When I first started this production, I had no idea how real it would feel now.”
LIDIE JIMENEZ-POTTER (CHELSEA) is an eighth grade student at the Mendocino K-8. Lidie has always been passionate about theatre and singing. She’s acted in various things, including Shrek with her fellow cast mate, Pablo. Lidie believes that working on Lockdown is important, because events like those in the play are often ignored and overlooked, and hopes that the art of theatre will better help spread awareness to the subject.
SAVANNA OGLESBY (GRADE NINE STUDENT) has been in many small plays/productions before. This is his first play with the Mendocino Theatre Company and he is excited to be able to participate in this production. “I’m very glad to be given the opportunity to work on this production with so many wonderful cast and crew members.”
SARA ROSE (SARAH) has been a performer for most of her life and has been involved in local theater for almost 10 years. She has done plays with CCM, Caspar Creek, Mendocino K-8, and with MTC for the radio. She is excited to make her on-stage MTC debut with such an impactful play.

He feels that Lockdown is an important exercise in widening his perspective to the cultures and realities of other students throughout the world. DERRINGER TOWER (ADAM) is a 12-yearold, openly agender 8th grader, attending Pacific Community Charter School in Point Arena. Originally from Los Angeles, they love reading, watching cartoons, judging people, and collecting dead animals! They are looking forward to being a part of this culturally relevant theatre production.
ETHAN ZARTMAN (PHIL) has been in many plays since he was little and is happy to be performing in Mendocino’ Theatre Company”s Lockdown! He attends Fort Bragg Middle School. Ethan is a Boy Scout and also a swimmer for the Mendocino Coast Sea Dragons swim team. Working on Lockdown is important because it brings awareness to the problems students face today.
