Take A Trip Downtown
If it’s culture you desire during your stay, take a trip downtown. Mena may be considered a small, quiet, and quaint place, but it’s heart is lively. A mix of old and new make up the downtown district, where you can catch a glimpse of the past while enjoing the experiences of the present.
North Mena Street is the offical beginning (or end depending on which way your journey takes you) to the Talimena National Scenic Byway. It is also home to the emerging Downtown Arts District, where you will find galleries and shops full of world class treasures. Glass work, pottery, painting, and weaving are all showcased in the area. The performing arts are alive and well at the Ouachita Little Theatre, located in a restored 1923 movie house originally called The Lyric. Here you can catch a local production nearly any weekend of the year.
