As seasons change, so does everything else on the planet. The air feels different, the earth colours become more vibrant and as people we seem to evolve just that little bit more. We Transform - A marked change in form, nature, or appearance.
I have felt that with so many things changing in our world at dramatic speed at times, whether it be technology, politics , fashion or even attitudes to race , religion and sexuality, it is important that we allow ourselves to be open to change, not just within ourselves but also of others around us. We should always acknowledge we are a melting pot of curious individuals and within that there are cultures and communities all looking for a chance to be seen and heard!
For this Issue I wanted to explore a different side to what was safe or classed as the norm and to try to mix up creatively as many interesting stories and characters as visually possible. This one is about not being apologetic for being who we are but celebrating our differences. It is about accepting that with chaos there is also calm and with the bold there can also be the beautiful.
There are no right or wrongs there is just us.

Meet Anita Barry a fashion photographer and de signer based in London. ‘La Vie Est Une Fleur’ (life is a flower) is an intimate editorial shoot in Anita’s home in North London. It is an experimental photo story capturing the beauty of embracing both fem inity and masculinity through clothing and makeup.
The models are photographed in corsets, gowns and accesories that blur the lines that exist in society surrounding gender. The shoot is perfect in depicting the art of androgny and expressing yourself through fashion.

Over the pandemic, photography felt like a natural progression for me, as a creative outlet, during a period of limitation.

What was your favourite part of the shoot?
My favourite part of the shoot was working with a dynamic team, and seeing the development of initial ideas through collaboration.
What was it about these three boys together that worked so well together?
Both boys have an androgynous aesthetic, which lent itself well to the concept for this shoot. In addition, the boys worked well together, which is an important element in the outcome.

How do you balance your relationship between being a clothes designer and a photographer, or does it all fall under your creative umbrella?
Where there any points of inspration or references for this story?

For me, both clothing design and photography are interwoven; my aesthetic overlaps for both, in terms of process, silhouette, composition, texture, and palette.
I go to exhibitions on a regular basis, so continuously collate references as inspiration. Additionally, I have a keen interest in individualism and self expression when I am out and about. The concept of this shoot was to encapsulate themes of experimentation and self empowerment, derived from the references I collected.

What do you hope to see more of in the industry moving forwards?
I would like to see the industry continue to grow in terms of diversity and inclusion. I think it is always important to have open dialogue about mental health, but I would say this applies to all creative industries.
