This basic customization requires a subscription to Memory Lane Tv and will be offered during the registration process.

Your favorite films can now be accessible in your library under “My list” and used to create a personalized reminiscence film that will be incorporated into your viewing and multisensory plan.

Want to celebrate a change of season or a holiday, boost appetite before a daily meal, or calibrate a group program to a particular ability level? Memory Lane can also create a Film based on your life story, your images, and using videos of our database to personalize the content to the life of the viewer.

We can use this person-centered approach to customize not only the generic content of Memory Lane to the audience but also to the specific end user (this is a service for fee option of the Memory Lane program). From family pictures, favorite songs, video clips, the Memory Lane team will help individuals produce a short film specifically dedicated to the history of the viewer. This film is then combined with Memory-Lane’s standard therapeutic segments, using the content management component. Segments customized to the patient are then produced, taking in account the preferences of the end users filled up during the registration process.

NB: This feature will soon be available on Memory Lane Tv and will offer an additional reminiscence tool to the care partners.

3. Implementing the life story Life stories will provide you with information in understanding the individual’s unique needs, routines and preferences. Misattribution of significant life events, places, and people are common symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias. Individuals exhibiting these symptoms are at a significant disadvantage of being misunderstood and can be at risk for alienation. Living with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias exposes one to loneliness, even within the boundaries of a long standing relationship. Using life stories will assist in recalling memories, identifying present and future goals, and celebrating one’s individuality.

The life story is a beneficial tool for family members as it assists in reviewing the individual’s life and remembering the person prior to the onset of their dementia. The Life Story will directly affect the ability to provide person-centered care and recognize needs of individuals as a whole person. Person centered care is about improving quality of life for an individual with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias. The use of the life story is extremely important in being able to provide person-centered care.

The life story will allow you to use distinctive information to deliver personalized care, value the retained abilities of the person, not only the losses, attempt to continue the patterns of people’s lives by honoring their historical preferences, and engage in meaningful conversations, memories, and activities.

Especially when customized, the Memory-Lane program is a person-centered approach, easily incorporating Life Stories.

Memory-Lane uses life stories to assist with making sessions more meaningful and purposeful to the viewer. By using a life story you are able to select sessions that will more meaningful for the individuals and that will provide more effective care. Reproducing a positive emotion or feeling is a good thing!

Incorporating life story information into group sessions will create an opportunity to share, reminisce, and have a fuller understanding of the individuals who are there together. Individuals living at home with their caregiver are able to participate in sessions that are developed on their own unique life story.

Memory-Lane enable the caregivers to see the person behind the resident. It allows to celebrate their personhood, enable them to have a voice (verbally and non-verbally), be enjoyable, and enable a person diagnosed with dementia to feel good about themselves, creating a sense of individuality and pride.

Why is a personal Life Story so important? Mnemotherapy, the science of reproducing an emotion As noted earlier, Dr. Jean Claude Broutart is a distinguished geriatric physician from Nice, France. Since 2009 he has been experimenting with music reminiscence with his patients. He developed a new therapy using music reminiscence that he calls “Mnemotherapy,” a therapeutic approach to mitigating symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. It consists in awakening and letting flourish musical memories, in a way that we can reproduce regularly, to our present benefit. He had seen the benefits of this “reviviscence” of musical memories and moments in one’s life.

“Reviviscence” is the act of reviving and reliving distant memories, that are still stored in the episodic memory, the long-term memory of the viewer. Customizing the Memory-Lane program for individuals helps give this reawakening its best chance to succeed. Through the use of a combination of customized music, image, and sound, Memory-Lane helps to reach and reactivate intellectual and emotional parts of the person affected by the disease, and to help them rediscover, at least in part, their “joie de vivre.”

Memory-Lane techniques uses Mnemotherapy and targets to improve, both in the short and long term, the apathy, sadness, depression syndromes, anxiety, and behavioral troubles.

In a facility environment, our program is more generic, but it takes into account the characteristic of the population of the patients, and we offer a targeted user’s protocol with touch and olfactory tools, along with location-appropriate imagery of Nature and temporal references that enhance the musical component present in all our films.
