The Sumner Brain Health Fair The University of Washington Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center recently hosted a Brain Health Fair in Sumner, WA on Saturday, October 8th, 2022. This event was geared towards Spanish and English-speaking Latino and Hispanic adults 55 years old or older. This event aimed to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease, while also giving people a sense of current research in the field. We would like to thank everyone who attended the event, and we hope to see you all and other interested community members at future events.
OUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THE EVENT
.
"An event that genuinely showed people's interest in learning about brain health and healthy habits." - Israel Anaya Carmona "We are very appreciative of Father Jerry and members of St. Andrews Catholic Church for allowing us to host the Sumner Brain Health Fair to provide education on the importance of brain health and memory care in the Hispanic and Latino Community." - Sonia K. Bishop "This event felt like a culmination of the past 1.5 years’ work and partnership between the St. Andrew Catholic church and UW ADRC. We are very grateful to church for continuing to invite us back to teach about Alzheimer’s disease and interventions. This series of events have shown us that people are motivated to participate in the important research that will help us find better treatments and therapies for Alzheimer’s disease." - Theresa Kehne
