Welcome to the 65th Annual Gentlemen’s Member-Guest Golf Invitational at Baltimore Country Club. This year’s tournament is a 45-hole championship consisting of five 9-hole matches with teams flighted by combined handicap index and played at 90%. Every team will play a 9-hole match against each team in their flight. Our Overall Champions will then be determined by a newly-designed, 3-hole playoff. The playoff will take place on holes 3, 8, and 9 of the East Course, with the winning teams of each flight playing a select-drive alternate-shot, aggregate score format, with handicaps. This playoff will take place immediately following conclusion of the Saturday morning match. We strongly encourage everyone to stay and watch this exciting playoff and enjoy the various food and beverage stations located throughout these three holes. Finally, all players in the winning flight of the overall champions, will receive an additional cash prize. You must be present to win!

Playoffs & spectator experience
Hole #4 - chain link boundary fence
• Win a hole, receive one (1) point
All Flight Winners will compete in a playoff to determine the Tournament Champion.
Prizes
East Course:
• Flight winner will be the team with the highest points total
Hole #6 - fence, white stakes, and white line on ground (around the barn structures)
The playoff will consist of twenty flight winning teams competing in a 3-hole (East #3, #8, & #9) selective drive, alternate shot, aggregate score format with a team handicap applied. The team handicap will be comprised of 60% of the A player’s handicap and 40% of the B players handicap added together for a total team handicap and those strokes applied accordingly on the card. Teams tied for the overall championship, after the 3-hole playoff, will go back to #9 tee for a shoot-out. This playoff, if needed, will use true alternate shot format to determine the overall champion with no handicaps. Three different tee yardages for this format will be set by handicap index and the players choose accordingly. If teams are tied after this first time, we will repeat again but this time partners will rotate. If a champion isn’t determined after the second time using this format, a true pitch-putt alternate shot format on this same hole from an already determined designated area will be used to determine the overall champion. Again, no handicaps will apply.
Teams with a combined age of 110-134 years compete in the Senior Division, and teams with a combined age of 135+ years compete in the Super Senior Division. The winner will be the team with the highest points total. In case of a tie, the teams will have a one hole playoff, true alternate shot playoff on East #9 to determine the champions. If tied after that one hole playoff, a chip-off will occur on that 9th green to determine the winners.
TEES: All play will be from the WHITE tee markers with the exception of the Baltimore Country Club and Winged Foot flights. Those flights will play from the BLUE tee markers. In addition, if you are 70 years and older, you may play from the GOLD tees with your handicap adjusted accordingly for each match. You must state this prior to the first match and remain playing from the GOLD tees for each match.

MODEL LOCAL RULE E-5: Alternative to Stroke and Distance for Lost Ball or Ball Out of Bounds. “When a player’s ball has not been found or is known or virtually certain to be out of bounds, the player may proceed as follows rather than proceeding under stroke and distance.

b. Fairway Reference Point: The point of fairway of the hole being played that is nearest to the ball reference point, but is not nearer the hole than the ball reference point.
For two penalty strokes, the player may take relief by dropping the original ball or another ball in this relief area (see Rule 14.3): Two Estimated Reference Points:
For purposes of this Local Rule, “fairway” means any area of grass in the general area that is cut to fairway height or less.
2. Take relief from the Penalty Area with a 1 stroke penalty. Move to the nearest optional drop circle that is behind the point where the ball last entered the Penalty Area.
3. If taking relief from the fence or cart path (immovable obstruction), you may go to the nearest drop circle that is behind the point of where the ball lies.
• Last crossed the edge of the course boundary to go out of bounds.
1. Play the ball as it lays in the Penalty Area without penalty. The USGA Rules allow a player to ground the club, make a practice swing, and remove loose impediments.
TEMPORARY IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (TIOs): Fans around the putting greens are TIOs. Relief is provided as stated in Appendix 1, Part B – 7a III, for lie of ball, stance, area of intended swing or if the TIO intervenes directly between the player’s ball and the hole, and is on the line of play.

WEST COURSE #12: Penalty Area on the right is now on the top of the hill near the fence and continues down the entire righthand side of the hole. If your ball come to rest in the Penalty Area a player will have three options:
There are two matches scheduled for Thursday and Friday, and one match scheduled for Saturday. If a flight completes an entire round, those points awarded will stand even if some of the other flights in the entire field have been unable to complete their round. However, if a flight is unable to complete a round, then the points are null and void just for that round. If we are unable to complete all or some of the rounds on either days, the matches not completed will be canceled and play will be as originally scheduled in the booklet for the remaining days.
6 | 65th Annual Gentlemen’s Member-Guest Golf Invitational
In the event that rain were to cancel either day one or day two, then day three, Saturday, becomes whatever day was canceled so that each flight plays 18 holes on the East and 18 on the West. In the event that both Thursday and Friday are rained out, the tournament will be converted into an 18-hole Net Better Ball of Partners Stroke Play within each flight. The lowest team score of each flight will then advance to the playoffs, which will be as originally described in this booklet. If there is a tie for the lowest score within each flight, the method for breaking ties will be by USGA recommended procedure. The competition for Overall Senior and Super Senior will also be the Net Better Balls of Partners Stroke Play for the Senior and Super Senior teams.
PLEASE PACE WITH THE GROUP IN FRONT OF YOU AND HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
Teams competing for the Overall Senior & Super Senior: In the event that all the matches have not been completed, the cumulative points will be determined by the team that completed the least amount of rounds and then base all of the teams off of that amount. As an example, some teams were able to complete three matches, some were able to complete four matches. We will take the field’s first three matches to determine the cumulative total to award the Champions.
