Home Tour Supports Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital’s
Roberta G. Veloz Cardiovascular Services
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. To confront this reality, Henry Mayo has expanded the Roberta G. Veloz Cardiovascular Services, ensuring our community has access to a full spectrum of world-class cardiac care. This expansion underscores Henry Mayo’s unwavering commitment to exceptional heart health services close to home.

Within this state-of-theart facility, patients receive advanced diagnostics, leading-edge treatments, and comprehensive rehabilitation for a wide range of cardiovascular conditions. Supported by the latest technology.
The Center has seen a 56% growth in procedures since 2024 showing clear evidence of the increasing need for these vital services. To meet this demand, the addition of a second cardiac catheterization lab is essential.
Expertly led by board-certified cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and an extraordinary nursing team, the Center offers a compassionate, patient-centered environment. Whether for routine evaluation or urgent, life-saving intervention, patients receive care marked by expertise, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to their wellbeing.
Celebrating 50 years, Henry Mayo has served Santa Clarita as a notfor-profit hospital guided by a volunteer board of community leaders. Today, as a 357-bed acute care facility, Henry Mayo proudly delivers a wide array of critical services, including Emergency and Trauma Care, Surgery, Primary Care, Community Cancer Care Services, the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center, and more.

Saving Hearts Close to Home Gala

Celebrating the holidays brings a special kind of joy, and this year’s theme, “Saving Hearts Close to Home,” invites us to embrace the true spirit of the season. This theme holds special meaning because it reflects our focus this year on raising funds for the Roberta G. Veloz Cardiovascular Services.
The Roberta G. Veloz Cardiovascular Services is an integral part of our hospital, playing a vital role in caring for our community. Many of us have friends or family whose lives have been touched by heart disease. Sadly, heart disease remains the #1 killer in the United States. However, Henry Mayo is committed to ensuring that the highest level of care is available right here in our growing community.
I am deeply honored to serve as this year’s Home Tour President and to celebrate my fifth year as a sponsor alongside so many passionate, dedicated individuals who care deeply about this cause. Our Home Tour Gala continues to thrive thanks to the unwavering support of our Home Tour members, Foundation staff, and the great production by Video Bump.
A heartfelt thank you to our homeowners: Mauricio and Denisse Garza, Primo and Monica Rangel, and the wonderful residents at Oakmont of Valencia and Santa Clarita. Thank you for opening your homes and sharing your treasured holiday traditions with our community.
Each featured home beautifully reflects the personalities, and spirit of its homeowners, creating a truly remarkable virtual holiday experience. These homes are brought to life through the creativity and talent of our gifted designers: JoAnne Robertson, Monica Rangel of Bella Interior Creations, Julie Shelton, and our devoted Home Tour members.
Tonight is about more than stunning décor and festive celebration, it is about supporting the needs of our community and ensuring that our hospital continues to grow and provide exceptional care. We cannot do this alone; we need your help.
May this holiday season ring with love, light, and laughter!
With love,

Love is Sweet and Love Lives Here!
Home of The Rangel Family

Primo & Monica Rangel both grew up in Ventura County, blessed with large, close-knit families and unforgettable holiday traditions.
After getting married, they relocated to the Santa Clarita Valley in 2002 and purchased their home with big dreams of continuing their loved traditions and creating new memories together.
Through years of hard work, late nights, and dedication, they have built a loving life raising their four beautiful daughters—alongside their Bernedoodle Bentley, Maltese Sebastian, and Ragdoll kitten River.
The Rangel home is always full of energy, laughter, and love—a welcoming space that continues to be the heart of family gatherings and celebrations. As they like to say, “ Family time is the best time! ”
When they’re not hosting loved ones in their home or relaxing by the river at their favorite vacation spot – Lake Havasu, Primo works as a Union General Foreman Electrician, while Monica runs her own interior design company based in Santa Clarita.
The Rangel family is also passionate about giving back and enjoys volunteering in their community.
They are excited to share a glimpse of their holiday spirit during their favorite time of year and are honored to be part of this year’s Home Tour.

Love is Sweet and Love Lives Here! Home of The Rangel Family

Monica Rangel’s passion for home organization and home decor began at a very young age. She has always had an eye for restoring amazing vintage furniture, cabinetry & pretty much anything that catches her eye. Monica’s love for interior design & admiration of the ever-changing trends has never been a challenge for her. Monica has always exceeded her clients vision in recreating timeless designs by always sticking to her belief of “Sprinkling in a few trends but keeping it versatile!”
As a mother and wife, Monica graduated from nursing school in 2006. Monica’s appreciation for caring for people evolved into a path that led her into this career, which now she voices that she is still caring for people but now with “their homes!” Because she has always had an interest in beautifying homes, the spark remained lit & Monica moved forward with pursuing her dream. With the continued support of her family, she did her research, and challenged herself once again! With Monica’s friendly approach, she quickly began networking including volunteering at many designer booth events. In 2010, based out of Santa Clarita, Bella Interior Creations by Monica evolved & was no longer a childhood dream!
Monica has redesigned & decorated many homes of all sizes & styles throughout Santa Clarita, Antelope Valley, Ventura county & surrounding areas in which many of her clients have become great friends. Monica has assisted in the redesigns of many kitchens, bathrooms & full home renovations including office & commercial work. Her approach is that each space must be unique, comfortable and functional. She strongly feels that what one may pull out of a magazine, off the internet or your neighbor’s house may or may not work in your own setting so it is important to be flexible in order to achieve that dream home setting. Colors play a big role in Monica’s design along with textures & her sprinkle of those “trendy factors!” Monica’s trademark is creating timeless & inviting spaces but most importantly must always be functional for each family’s needs.
Monica has chosen the theme “ Love is sweet and love lives here ” to unfold the beauty of family gatherings. She wanted her home to reflect the importance of love, togetherness, and the joy of being surrounded by family.
“My family has so many things to be grateful for, and we wanted to share our story with you this year.”

Ilene continues to carry forward the shared legacy of warmth, curiosity, and devotion to family that she and her late husband, Larry, built together.
Though Jewish by belief, Ilene describes herself as more spiritual than religious. She and Larry shared a rich and joyful life, forty-four years in Chicago before returning to Santa Clarita, the place they proudly called home for nearly three decades.
Larry, a Navy draftee, devoted thirty-five years to teaching and counseling, touching countless lives with his guidance, kindness, and quiet strength. Ilene always had an eye for beauty and design. As a young girl, she loved creating costumes and even designed her own wedding gown. Today, her creativity shines in every corner of her home, from her cherished doll collection to her whimsical miniature tea sets. Even at Oakmont, her artistic spirit continues to flourish, her favorite pastime is attending the community’s jewelry-making classes, where she finds joy and connection.

Janet and Fred’s story began in June 1963, when they married just weeks before Fred joined the U.S. Army. What followed was a lifetime of shared service, adventure, and devotion. Over nine tours and twenty years in uniform, Fred rose to Lieutenant Colonel while Janet supported him at every turn—teaching English as a Second Language, helping soldiers earn their GEDs, and coordinating Army Community Services for families worldwide. Her impact was so significant that she was even mentioned in Fred’s officer reports, a rare honor for a military spouse.
They shared passions for genealogy and global travel, visiting countries around the world, with St. Petersburg as their favorite destination. The tree’s red poinsettias and blue ornaments reflect the vibrancy and joy they brought to life. Fred, a lifelong learner and musician who once played drums with The Roadrunners, later taught drum classes and volunteered with Oakmont’s Veterans Consortium.
Their generosity touched every community they joined. For years, Janet and Fred volunteered together at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, greeting patients and families with warmth and compassion.

David and Lynn have shared a remarkable 62-year journey centered on music, faith, family, and community. David, a lifelong educator and clarinetist, spent more than 40 years teaching at Birmingham High School and helped rename it in honor of Daniel Pearl. He continues to mentor others through the Education for Ministry class at All Saints Church in Pasadena. Lynn, a pastor for over 40 years, has guided countless people with her compassion and humor. Together they raised three children—Andrew, Matthew, and Sarah—and cherish their grandchildren, Spencer and Gwen. Their home has long been filled with books, music, and laughter, especially during the holidays when they celebrate cherished Scandinavian traditions, from their dessert and champagne toast to David’s encrypted gift tags and the ritual of opening presents from youngest to oldest. Now living in Oakmont, they remain active and connected. Lynn leads the Monday bowling league and enjoys weekly card games with Sarah, and the two co-lead the Oakmont Book Club, continuing their shared love of learning and storytelling.

orn in Kansas and raised in Colorado, Sue has always lived with a spirit of adventure. After high school, a spontaneous road trip to California with friends led to a permanent move and the start of her West Coast life. While working in the Wilshire district she met her husband, Richard, and they later settled in Burbank to raise their children, Glenn and Kimberly. Sue loved playing tennis with Richard and, after retiring from Peachland Elementary, enjoyed years of golfing with a local ladies’ club. She also embraced baking, especially during the holidays, when her homemade cookies became a favorite. Family has always been central to her life, and she is a devoted grandmother to four grandchildren, a proud great-grandmother to one greatgrandson, and eagerly awaiting a great-granddaughter. Now a resident of Oakmont for two years, Sue remains active and social, staying connected with friends, attending events, and making new connections. She continues to enjoy the community’s vibrant atmosphere, and one of her greatest pleasures is the view from her room, where she watches the twinkling lights of Magic Mountain each evening.

Poised at the end of an idyllic tree lined street in Westridge stands the spectacular Spanish Modern home of the Garza family. Mauricio and Denisse have called Santa Clarita home for more than a decade, and have recently become involved in several community charities.
Mauricio is a celebrated musician, composer, producer, and entrepreneur, honored with multiple Grammy nominations. Denisse studied physiology in college, spent several years as a teacher, and has devoted the past three years working at Oakmont. Together they are raising two sons, Mauricio and Emilio.

Known among friends and family for their gracious hospitality, the Garzas love to entertain—whether it’s an intimate dinner or a lively holiday gathering, their home is always filled with music, laughter, and good company. This year, the family is opening their doors to share their love of the holidays and the spirit of Christmas. The theme—“ Miracle on Shady Oak Lane ”—offers a joyful twist on a timeless classic, with a few playful liberties taken along the way.

Miracle on Shady Oak Lane
Home of The Garza Family

Designer: JoAnne Robertson

Born in Montreal, Canada, JoAnne Robertson discovered her passion for design early in life. After high school, she moved to New York City to attend Parsons School of Design, where she earned her BFA in Graphic Design. “They taught us how to observe — to see beyond the obvious, to question convention, and to never be afraid to break the rules,” she recalls. That creative philosophy would shape a lifelong career defined by imagination and curiosity.
JoAnne’s first role was as an Assistant Art Director at a New York advertising agency specializing in high fashion. She designed campaigns for Oscar de la Renta, Geoffrey Beene, Norman Norell, and Chester Weinberg, with her work appearing in Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. Later, she joined Esquire/GQ Publishing as an Associate Art Director, where she worked alongside a spirited creative team that included the witty and brilliant Nora Ephron.
In 1975, JoAnne moved to Los Angeles, joining a small private-label beauty company called Aware Products — now known as Voyant Beauty. Over the next four decades, the company transformed into one of the most respected contract manufacturers in the industry, serving global clients like Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, and Procter & Gamble. As Creative Director, she oversaw packaging, design, marketing, and corporate events — guiding the brand through years of growth and innovation.
Since retiring in 2015, JoAnne has remained active in the Santa Clarita community. In 2017, she and her beloved Havanese, Farley, became a certified pet therapy team, visiting patients at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. Her involvement soon grew, she joined the Auxiliary, helped plan fundraising events, and wrote their monthly newsletter. She also helped Kathy Gilbert give the gift shop a much needed facelift. Later, she brought her design eye to the Home Tour League, helping develop décor for the annual Fashion Show and Gala.
“This year, I had the privilege of decorating the Garza home in Westridge,” JoAnne shares. “As I drove up the street to tour the home, it felt so storybook, warm, welcoming, and full of character.” “Miracle on Shady Oak Lane” came to mind and I ran with it! It needed to be fun and authentic, besides just looking Christmasy and beautiful.
For JoAnne, creativity has never been just about design, it’s about connection, collaboration, and celebrating beauty in all aspects of life.

KEEP ON BELIEVING IT’S POSSIBLE
Breakthroughs happen when we dare to believe. It’s when the unimaginable becomes the attainable. Treatments are discovered, and lives are transformed. We believed it when we identified the AIDS virus. We believed it when we performed the first-ever human bladder transplant.
