I’ve always loved last minute adventures. There’s spontaneity, some adrenaline, and the guarantee that sometime, someplace, the unexpected will arise. Like that famous idiom, “You never know unless you go…” I love that feeling.
This particular trip was a one-of-a-kind adventure requiring getting on all fronts. A last-minute blitz to chase a dream swell rolling from Hawaii to the West Coast. We knew it was breaking roughly 10 hours by boat off the coast of California.
We lucked out and ended up on a friend’s 100-foot yacht. Dozen or so boards, three jet-skis, food, drink, and some of my best friends in the world. Heading 100 nautical miles west to find a bit of heaven. Chasing waves of consequence and rolling the wheel of chance that the conditions hold true to forecasted perfection. I told you, spontaneous adrenaline, second to none. 9 hours, through the dead of the night. “How many miles out?” “A lot!”
