good fragrance and they grow well in this part of the village. My favourite is The Pilgrim, a beautiful quartered yellow shrub rose. I never pass it without the thought of where I am in life and where I’m going. I’ll write again about how these repeat flowers are doing in September. That is the time to judge whether a rose is worth a place in your garden! There will be more next time about the veg patch. By July you might even be self -sufficient in veg! I have put tomatoes outside for the first time and I’m hoping they don’t get blight. Some jobs for July:  Watering: pots need watering every other day in warm weather and if it is really hot, every day. Use washing water when you can.

Feeding: “feed on Fridays” is a good mantra. Keep the weeds down in the borders and the veg patch.  Plant seeds of biennuals, eg sweet Williams. The plants which Jim gave me in February look like jewels in our potager. Good gardening, keep safe and go well from Jim and me.
