Welcome to the June issue of Meldreth Matters. It’s not long now until the bank holiday weekend. Please see our pull-out supplement for details of the events being held in Meldreth to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. There are several other events taking place in the village this month; see the centre pages diary and pages 4-7 for further information. Finally, if you would like to volunteer for a local group or organisation, Meldreth Village Hall, The Emilie Agnes Elin Almshouse Trust, 1st Orwell Scouts and Royston & District Community Transport are all looking for helpers. See the relevant articles in this issue for further details. Kathryn

Meldreth Village Hall

Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Meldreth Village Hall trustees invite you to visit the Village Hall tearoom as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The tearoom will be serving light refreshments on the afternoon of Sunday 5th June between 2.00pm and 6.00pm. The Platinum Pageant will be livestreamed on the big screen all afternoon. The children’s Queen’s portrait poster competition display will be there too and a memories book for you to write down any of your royal memories, so please come along and meet other Meldreth residents.

Meldreth Village Hall Trust AGM

Our AGM will take place in the Village Hall on Friday 17th June at 7.30pm; all welcome. We are still looking for a volunteer to become Treasurer, so if you would like to be involved in the running of this thriving village venue, please contact David Coton on 07749 850026.

Temporary Closure of the Village Hall

The Hall will be closed from 25th July to 31st August for redecoration and refurbishment of the toilets. Normal service will resume in September.
