SATURDAY 06TH APRIL 2024 | 15:00

After losing out on penalties in the county cup semi final Dynamo faced Derby Singh Brothers for the first time this season in the league. A great first half performance saw us take a 2-0 lead through Jammy and Tyler. A resolute second half display kept the opposition at bay until a penalty in added on time gave the away side hope. The referee decided 15 mins was to be played extra but Dynamo stood firm to record a second straight win.

A full 49 seater coach took players and fans on an away day to Arnold Town, Dynamo going in search of a 3rd win in a row. A powerful first half performance saw Dynamo score 5 times through Dylan Muir hitting a hat trick, Tyler and Oscar also netting. Arnold did score twice themselves with 2 well taken goals. The second half wasn’t as lively with just 1 more goal being added to the scoreline as Goody scored his first since late November to seal the win.

Just 3 days later Dynamo made the midweek trip to Teversal to face a side currently second from bottom but with some recent encouraging performances. The home side started well with fast pacing and movement causing problems for the lads. Coxy pulled off a great save to keep the score at 0-0. That wake up call seem to kick Dynamo into action and from a Macca free kick Allsop headed home to give us the lead. That was doubled 10 mins later from another set

piece as Tyler was on hand to poke home. It was 3 on 35 mins as Conor Poynton fired home his first of the season. Right on half time Poynton won the ball back in the middle of the park and release Goodband who finished superbly to give a 4-0 scoreline at the break. Despite the score the home side continued to play and created a few more chances in the second half. After good work by Oscar who went through on goal only for the home keeper to save, Withers was on hand to make it 5-0 with his 19th of the season. Almost straight from the kick off Teversal got a consolation as the winger fired a long range shot past Coxy.

The full time whistle went for 5-1 and for the first time this season 4 straight wins which takes us joint second in the league.

SATURDAY 20TH APRIL 2024 | 15:00

A busy week ended with a trip to Linby Colliey Welfare, quite a few absentees for this one (Moore, Peverley, Gosling, Withers as well as long term injuries

Tovell and Nkumrah) Dave Worger came in for his first appearance in 5 months to make up the bench. Linby took an early lead when a ball put across the 6 years box was not dealt with and the young winger nipped in between Coxy and Goody to head the ball home. Dynamo should’ve equalised straight away as Allsops header went agonisingly wide. Throughout the game Dynamo never really looked in control and needed Coxy to pull off 2 good saves to keep it at 1 -0 going into half time.

The lads came out in the second half looking more potent and got the equaliser as Dylan Muir finished well for his 6th goal since joining us. It now looked like Dynamo would go on and win the game but more indecision at the back saw the home sides dangerous number 10 played in and he finished under Coxy for 2-1. Dynamo rallied again and equalised for the second time as Bodill smashed the ball home off the post. Now could we go on and win it? Muir, Goody and Bodill all had great chances but failed to convert.

Into stoppage time and the game was stretched, we lost possession in the middle of the park and Linby worked it well to the dangerous number 10 who finished under Coxy to step the points. A disappointing result and dispute the efforts left with nothing to show for the game. A harsh lesson in chasing the win to be left open for a sucker punch in the last minute. No time to feel sorry for ourselves as we host Mickleover RBL just 48 hours later

RESSIES CUP FINAL

DISAPPOINTMENT...

The Reserves went into the Final of the Derbyshire Cup Junior South as favourites and looking for a third win in the competition in 10 years. They faced a strong, resolute Wirksworth Ivanhoe Reserves team, who had beaten some good sides to get here.

The first 15 minutes started well for Dynamo, as chances were created at will - Shadbolt, Bentley and Baines all failing to convert, with the latter unlucky not to get a penalty as his goal-bound header seemed to hit the Wirksworth defenders arm.

The reserves would live to rue those missed chances, as on 20 minutes Wirksworth took the lead. A loose ball was prodded home from 12yards out. Dynamo looked shell-shocked and were hit again 10 minutes later, as good work down the left saw the ball cut-back and a smart finish was applied by the opposition winger.

The game now took a different path, and Ivanhoe retreated 10 yards, which seemed to suit them more and soaked up all that the Dynamo threw at them.

Bentley had a great shout for a penalty, which saw the linesman give it but the ref wage play on. At the other end, Ivanhoe hit the post, but allin-all it was huff and puff from Reserves and they just couldn’t find a way back into the game.

A disappointing night but congratulations to Wirksworth who were deserved winners on the night.

FT: Wirksworth Ivanhoe Reserves 2-0 Melbourne Dynamo Reserves.

...BUT WE GO AGAIN

Still plenty to play for as the Reserves remain top of their division, and are also in the final of the Division 2 Cup where they will face Willington FC on Saturday May 11th at Graham Street Prims, KO 3pm.

TODAY’S OPPONENTS

Mickleover RBL FC were founded in 1945, the ground was given to the people of Mickleover by military veterans upon returning from the war. The club had a successful spell in the Central Midlands league, however when the club was unable to get flood lights we were forced to withdraw from the league.

Mickleover Royal British Legion has recently gone through a multi-million pound refurbishment, which includes a two-storey club house and new changing facilities, the club were now establishing themselves in the Midlands Regional Alliance after getting promoted from division 2 and winning the Derby junior cup, RBL then went on to win the 1st division by 13 points. After 2 years in the Premier division and an appearance in the senior cup final it was decided to make the step up to the Central Midlands League.

Season 2018 ~ 2019 was our most successful season where we finished 3rd in the league and lifted the Derbyshire cup.

RBL have had mixed fortunes in the central midlands League so far and this season we have appointed a new management team with Rob Wilkinson, Paddy Gorman and Adie Tomlin taking on the first team.

Behind the scenes the club have worked hard with the local community and won the peoples millions lottery grant to fund a 3G training pitch, the club has also expanded hugely from 2 adults' teams to currently having 11 teams across various age groups.

In 2016 Garry, Jeff and Leigh were responsible for creating a new team at AFC Kilburn and developing them into an established step 7 club.

Garry and Jeff then went to Holbrook Sports who were languishing at the bottom of the CML South Division, they turned them round and steered them to a respectable position losing only 3 of their 14 games in charge for that season.

Unfortunately, the last two seasons at Holbrook have been blighted by Covid, so the management team are really looking forward to a successful season for the newly formed RBL side.

The pre-season friendlies have gone really well despite us having a lot of new players coming into to the club. It may take us a little while to settle down, but we are confident that we can do the club proud.

We have also been delighted by the welcome from the RBL committee, and we hope to be part of long and successful period at RBL.

At the start of the 2023 season Dave Holmes returned as an assistant manager having had a couple of years off.
