PINXTON

SATURDAY 25TH NOVEMBER 2023 | 14:00 Next up for the First Team was arguably the toughest test so far, league leaders Pinxton FC who were on a 11-game winning run, which included a penalty shootout win in the cup over us back in September. Out were Macca, Jammy, Tovell and Simo, in came Worger, Peverley and youngsters Bentley and Moore from the Reserves. Dynamo made a quick start to the game, and found some pressure early on. A couple of good balls into the box tested the away keeper, then on 6 minutes, a long throw from Goodband was flicked on by Allsop, and Withers smashed it home at the back stick. The first-half remained pretty even, Dynamo having a couple of half-chances through Allsop and Goodband, but the away side came closest when their centreforward hit the post with a header from a free-kick. Dynamo lost two players to injury at half time, both Moore and Hughes couldn’t continue; Moore after a horrendous tackle the ref somehow missed and Hughes with a bang to the head.

Into the second-half and the visitors came out strongly, dictating the tempo of the game through smart passing and movement. Dynamos defence, once again, stood firm and into the last 10 minutes the pressure really ramped-up from the away side. On two separate occasions, the ball seemed destined for the back of the net, only for it to end up in Coxy’s arms who had earlier took a blow himself and was hobbling. The rear-guard action paid off and after 7 minutes of added -on time, the referee final blew the whistle to take us up to second in the table with another well earnt 3 points. A seventh shut-out of the season for the lads. A break in league action next up as we host Allenton United in the quarter-final of the Der- Image: Poynton gets crowded-out by the Pinxton defence byshire Cup.

TODAY’S OPPONENTS

The Club was founded in 2003 with a Senior Men’s Football Team, where we were formerly known as the Crown & Arrows FC, we played our first season winning the East Midlands Senior League Division One, which in turn earned us a Promotion that year.

Our second season we became known as the Coronation Football Club, winning another trophy and winning the season gaining both titles of the East Midlands Senior Premier League and Cup winners. In our third season we changed our name to Allenton United Football Club as most of the senior players came from or around the Allenton area. Allenton United Football Club brought us many league & cup medals, doubles and even treble winning seasons and 10yrs of domination in local Saturday football finishing in the highly rated Central Midlands League. Around 2007 Allenton United Football Club started its first junior football team and today we are extremely proud that we are currently running 11 junior football teams in conjunction with an Allentots Football Academy for 4 to 6-year olds.
