History Laid out in 1678 as the southern boundary of the Wesco Acre Lots, Liberty Street is older than Main Street. The dwellings on Liberty Street are some of the earliest in town. An eighteenth-century house belonging to Silas Jones Jr. first stood at 20 Liberty, but it was removed, and this new house was built in its place in 1885. It is the house that still stands here today.
20 Liberty was renovated in 201 in a historically sensitive manner, retaining as much of the original structure as possible. The current owner is the 4th generation to own the house. It is the hope of the owner to have families enjoy this house while they vacation on Nantucket and make memories to last a lifetime. We hope you enjoy it as much as their family has over the years.

to the public during the main season from May to Columbus Day. The Park & Recreation department has two hard surface tennis courts at Jetties Beach.

The Nantucket Conservation Foundation owns and maintains the preserved lands as protected, undeveloped, natural habitat. you can explore nature preserves, forests, and walking trails for adventures.

Nantucket has miles of paved bike paths connecting Town to all parts of the island, and bikes are a much easier form of transportation than cars in summer months. If you call ahead, your bikes will be ready to go when you arrive! We recommend Cook’s Bicycles on S Beach Street.
We can arrange for you to have a weekly Nantucket Club membership during your stay (additional fee applies). Enjoy access to the fitness and spa facility, offering yoga and fitness classes; two seasonal, heated swimming pools, an outdoor hot tub, and saunas; a Children’s Day Program and kiddie pool.

Nantucket Community Sailing offers private and group sailing programs for children and adults of all ages and ability levels. We consider the fall the best time to play on Nantucket, and a great idea is for a golf getaway in the fall or spring. Bring your golf buddies and stay at Liberty Tides at least 3 days.
