SUPPORTING VETERANS We are proud to support Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to the families of fallen or disabled service men and women, through fundraising events and staff support. Together, we have raised more than $900,000 for Folds of Honor since 2013 via creative programming, events, fundraisers and friendly competitions at our 100+ golf courses and destination resorts across the country.

Golf Resort (Palm Desert, CA) raised $10,000 for Folds of Honor when its PGA Professional Staff played 100 holes of golf.

A

s an independent, family-owned company, we have been grounded by our longstanding values of service, integrity, creativity, loyalty, relationships and financial discipline. While our history confirms our abilities as a leading competitor in the hospitality and private club management space, it’s our passion, agility and willingness to be different that puts us above the rest in delivering for our clients and partners. And, this has never been more true than in recent months.

At the onset of the pandemic, KemperSports gathered its senior leadership team to guide the company through uncertain times. The team advocated for golf’s return across the country when nearly 80 percent of our facilities were shut down due to state and local regulations. With remote collaboration, our regional teams responded quickly to create reopening playbooks, staff training manuals and a host of new safety protocols to ensure that golf remained a healthy outlet for entertainment, exercise and recreation. Together with our partners in Chicago and throughout Illinois, we embarked on an aggressive campaign to lobby for golf’s return in the state – and across the country.

Today, we see the results of that campaign as we welcome a new generation of players to our facilities – those who were drawn to the game (or came back to the game) during the pandemic. We relish the opportunity to build lasting relationships with new members, customers and guests, and turn first-time players into lifelong golfers.

DELIVERING PPE In an effort to provide much-needed Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers, KemperSports launched Rain Suits for Responders – a program to collect new and gently used rain suits and deliver them directly to healthcare workers from AMITA Health on the frontlines of the coronavirus battle. The campaign fully met the PPE needs for AMITA Health within a month of launching the program.

HIGHEST NPS TO DATE In 2020, KemperSports achieved the highest Net Promoter Score (NPS) in the company’s history based on client and customer surveys. This has been a key differentiator for our business and our culture for more than 40 years. And, in a year of incredible change and uncertainty, we are so proud to celebrate this accomplishment with our staff, clients and partners.

In 2020, the KemperSports team for Bandon Dunes Golf Resort put its creativity to the test to safely host the U.S. Amateur Championship. Record viewership ratings and tear-jerking moments during match play competition on Bandon Dunes made this golf championship unforgettable for both competitors and resort staff.

And, if that wasn’t enough excitement, the resort celebrated the opening of Sheep Ranch, its fifth 18-hole course on property, in summer 2020.

SEQUOYAH NATIONAL GOLF CLUB COMPLETES BUNKER RENOVATION AND REGRASSING PROJECT The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and KemperSports finished a complete bunker renovation and regrassing project under the direction of Robert Trent Jones II Design.

The plan installed capillary concrete bunkers throughout and converted the current fairways, tees and green surrounds to Zeon Zoysia — a variant chosen for its tolerance to the cool mountain climate and its resilience to summer heat — to provide the best playing conditions possible year-round.

STREAMSONG DEBUTS GREENS WITH NEW MACH 1 VARIANT October 2020 marked the reopening of Streamsong Resort’s (Streamsong, FL) Blue and Red courses. Both courses were closed as they underwent regrassing with a revolutionary new ultradwarf bermudagrass known as Mach 1. With the new greens ready for play, Streamsong is now the first golf destination in the world to showcase Mach 1 on two 18-hole layouts.

GOLF GOES PRIME TIME The 2020 U.S. Amateur Championship presented the KemperSports team with a unique set of challenges.

Bandon Dunes Resort created a “bubble environment” and provided an outstanding stage for the world’s best amateur golfers, which led to thrilling matches and record viewership numbers. Golf Channel’s weekend coverage of the U.S. Amateur was up by 52 percent over the prior year and marked the highest ratings for the event in 18 years.

KemperSports will carry this momentum forward as we continue our longtime partnership with the USGA as the host site of the 2021 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship and 2022 U.S. Women’s Amateur at Chambers Bay (University Place, WA).

Municipal Community Properties Stepping up the game with expanded experiences for the local community

ur history with public golf facilities began in 1978 with the management of Kemper Lakes, located north of Chicago and site of the 1989 PGA Championship. Kemper Lakes invented the world of premium public golf in the United States and served as the first public access course to host the PGA Championship.

At KemperSports, we combine our love for the game with our penchant for business in operating some of the nation’s top-performing public courses.

We have been entrusted to work with some of the country’s best municipal facilities, and in 2020, we added Lakeview Golf Club (Meridian, ID) to our expansive portfolio and renewed many of our longstanding client agreements. We also expanded youth and family programming and added new driving ranges and short course experiences to provide an outdoor recreational outlet for the communities in which we operate.

AUDUBON DESIGNATED The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses designated Bolingbrook Golf Club (Bolingbrook, IL) as a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.” Bolingbrook is one of over 900 courses in the world to hold this title.

FAMILY EXPERIENCES HEIGHTENED After a thorough review of COVID-19 health and safety protocols, KemperSports courses developed new programming to serve junior golfers and provide an outlet for entertainment, exercise and fun. Due to popularity, youth golf initiatives provided opportunities for family experiences and a focus on the value of relationships.

HOME ON THE RANGE The City of La Crosse, Wisconsin and Forest Hills Golf Course opened the facility’s new driving range in July.

RENOVATION OF SPACE REVIVES TEXAS YACHT CLUB The Yacht Club on Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall, TX (previously known as Chandlers Landing Yacht Club and Allure) is located near Buffalo Creek Golf Club (pictured top left).

KemperSports partnered with The Yacht Club to complete an extensive redesign of the clubhouse and kitchen, which made it one of the Dallas-Fort Worth area’s premier lakeside destinations for dining and special events. The completion of an extensive renovation brought renewed excitement for the community, with a culinary experience that fits any mood or palate.

CANTIGNY RECEIVES HUMANITARIAN AWARD The McCormick Foundation, owner of Cantigny Golf in Wheaton, Illinois, received the 2020 Humanitarian Award from RevelationGolf, an organization using golf as therapy to help veterans with disabilities.

The Foundation and Cantigny Golf are long-time partners with “RevGolf,” now in its 15th year. Every month during the season, Cantigny Golf professionals and RevGolf conduct a golf clinic for veterans at the Cantigny Golf Academy.

Member Clubs Creativity provided safe ways for club members to gather and stay active

he private club experience is evolving. We help our clients create experiences that meet the complex and growing demands of our members and their families, especially amidst times of uncertainty and change. In the last year, we renewed agreements with trusted clients in Illinois, Florida and New York and launched creative dining offerings throughout all 12 months. At The Glen Club, we launched an outdoor winter igloo dining experience that was a hit among members and guests. With creativity, detailed planning and flawless execution, great rewards will come.

GOLF MARATHON RAISES FUNDS FOR AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY Brittany Ferrante, assistant golf professional & director of junior golf at The Village Club of Sands Point (Sands Point, NY), participated in a golf marathon in support of the American Cancer Society. The first woman in the PGA Met Section to complete a golf marathon, Ferrante raised $42,000 for the American Cancer Society after playing an astonishing 200 holes over 13 hours.

Zarak was recognized for her calm, measured approach leading the property’s COVID-19 response team, which ultimately enabled the course to open for the season—to high demand—and provide exemplary services to guests and staff.
