Note that NAR has contributed over 1 million and may reach 2 or more million in financial aid to our members and their communities. I was amazed at the international scope of the Realtor community. At the first general session there was a flag tribute from all of the Nations that we work with from Brazil to China to the United Kingdom; we saw a moving spectacle of flags on the stage when the Realtor choir sang Amazing Grace and God Bless America. We also heard from Afterburners who coach companies and teams with military precision to achieve their objectives. In addition, the National Good Neighbor awards were presented and one of the recipient’s on the cover of this month’s Realtor Magazine is from Alameda. There were a multitude of personal performance and education classes as well as forums to discuss local and national legislative issues.

By the way, the eminent domain fluster is on its way out as not the best way to deal with underwater mortgages 2 DeltaCurrents

according to what we heard from the Federal Legislative Forum. However, we also we advised that mortgage interest deduction legislation was part of a package being presented and likely could not be separated. Fannie and Freddie will still be with us but look forward to changes in the future. I also attended roundtables for best practices for Association non-dues revenue, recruiting college students, and cost cutting. It seems we are on track with most of the ideas discussed but had a good conversation and raised some new possibilities. Now this may be the last time you hear from me…..bittersweet is always the way as changes occur, remember Change Is Opportunity? The team moving forward next year is dedicated to your excellence in every way. We were not able to implement what we wanted to this year, but I think that we made a good start and will learn from what we can and move on. I read an article about perseverance and if you have seen this quote before, then forgive me. “Endeavor to Persevere” is the name of the game. Just like in our business, we have to keep going, strong and steady, to achieve our Association goals. We will get better and stay on the road to progress. This means continuing to assist our members in being the most professional, productive and successful Realtors on the planet. A lofty goal but surely one worth moving toward. So, Happy Holidays and we will see you on the road.

I visited with National Association of Realtors last week and had an eye opening experience. It was held in Orlando, FL, the first week of November. There were and are huge concerns over mortgage interest and property tax deductions as well as changing their constitution, read by-laws, as to structure and accountabilities within the organization. Political contributions, ie: RPAC and fund raising topped the list as well as the recent Sandy disaster.

Dear Delta Association Members and Affiliates: I will be installed as the 2013 Delta President along with the other officers and board of directors at a special luncheon event on Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Club Los Meganos (Trilogy) in Brentwood. Delta’s installation of officers is considered the annual signature event for the association. This is where we emphasize the role of the association as a resource for our members and the importance of member involvement in making our association stronger. We will hear from our outgoing President, Cecily Tippery about her year at the helm in 2012 as she hands me the gavel. And most of all we’ll all be there to enjoy the company of old friends, networking with members and having a good time. I’m asking for your help to make this a memorable event. We are keeping our meal affordable so all members can participate. Please consider being a sponsor. See the enclosed information sheet. With a limited amount of ad space in our program, it is necessary that you make your selection without delay. Submit your signup form (included) to the association office. Don’t hesitate to call the Association for more information at (925) 757-8283 or you can call me at (925) 783-8286. I’m always happy to talk with Delta members. With Best Regards, Scott MacIntyre 2012 President-Elect
