It’s Back to School Time! As many send their children back to school, the Fall real estate season comes into full swing. While the Summer selling season is great for many, there are still many opportunities for sales. We know the market is improved, as we are welcoming new members to Delta Association each month! If you are at a networking meeting or out and about and meet a new member, please take a moment to meet them, exchange cards, and try to get to know something about them. If we all work together, we will raise the level of professionalism in our marketplace. We have a lockbox exchange scheduled for Friday, Sept. 25 at D.A.R. in Antioch. Your blue Supra iBox will be exchanged on a 1:1 basis for a new Supra iBox BTLE (Bluetooth Low Energy). This will be part of the entire region upgrading their boxes. In the very near future, you will be able to discontinue use of the fob, if your phone is Bluetooth-enabled. You may still opt for an ActiveKey (white remote key). This is a MANDATORY exchange, at NO COST. As we enter the final quarter of my year as President, I am acutely aware that you have educational offerings or needs that you might like D.A.R. to provide. We will work to provide education that you desire, and we don’t want to plan classes that you don’t want to attend. Please send me an email or call me at 925.305.9479 with your suggestions. We need your help on committees for the remainder of this year, and also in \to next year when 2016 DAR President Errol Mooney will be leading us. Events, Bylaws, Professional Standards, Budget and Finance, Education, and Membership are all in need of volunteers. The time commitment can be as short as 1 hour per month. Participation in D.A.R. is not only good for your business: it elevates you to a level of leadership in the industry. Our wonderful and devoted CEO, John Bedford, is taking a welldeserved vacation this month. Chief OperationS Officer Tonia Nielsen and the Staff are happy to serve any needs you may have. Delta’s Past President and current Region 5 Chair Cecily Tippery will be installed as the 2016 California State President of Women’s Council of REALTORS® on January 25, 2016 at a luncheon in Anaheim. A NOTE OF THANKS As most of you know, my wonderful and loving wife of over 50 years, Doris Bedford, passed away last April, and even though we knew that she was terminally ill, losing her was a great blow to me and to my family. It’s been a rough few months, and I want all of you to know how deeply I have appreciated the caring support that I have had from so many of you. I am particularly thankful to our officers and our board of directors for their understanding during this time. I’ve learned that dealing with grief is a lot harder than I had anticipated. I’m about to head out on the longest vacation that I’ve had in years. I’ll be away from the association office until the end of September. I’m going to be heading to southern California to visit many family members, sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends. Later in the month a high school friend and I will head to Portland, Oregon to attend a reunion of treasured shipmates from the USS Richard B. Anderson (DD-786). Finally, I’ll visit a childhood friend in Arizona recently diagnosed with lymphoma who has recently completed a difficult regimen of chemotherapy requiring alternating weekly hospital stays. The qualification, application and enrollment process is still confusing for many members. And, it starts all over again in several months. Roger Smith, President of The Benefits Store, is making himself available for speaking engagements to California Realtor® Associations to present a seminar on “Covered California - a Road Map” and to answer questions many members still have about this process.
