Meet Jason Gee
When you meet Jason Gee, warehouse operator at B30 in Richmond, Va., you quickly learn he loves his job. He says it’s because “every day I feel like I’m helping somebody.” His role on the Replenishment team is literally designed to help others—he starts his day at 5 a.m. to replenish products

In this issue, we’ll begin a series where you’ll meet team members who stand out for living the Medline values, beginning with Jason Gee. so everything is ready for the first shift when they arrive at 9. During his day, Jason pulls products for orders going to customers such as Bon Secours or Fairfax Hospital. He takes the time to verify everything is exactly what the customer ordered—the right product in the right quantity. If there happens to be a mix-up or something doesn’t add up, his inner Gritty Problem Solver kicks in. “Sometimes I have to do some investigating to locate the correct product in case something got put away in the wrong spot. And if the quantity changes, I’ll do the math to be sure the order doesn’t fall short,” he explains. “For example, diapers coming from

our manufacturing facility in Lithia Springs, Georgia, come in various quantities per case depending on size.” After five years with Medline, Jason has worked in all areas of the warehouse—receiving, shipping, packing, etc.—and he’s driven every piece of equipment we have. It’s no wonder he’s routinely asked to share his problem-solving skills with other distribution centers when they need an extra hand. Jason says, “I always pay attention to detail because what we deliver to customers really matters. We’re talking about IV bags, solutions, exam gloves—important items that doctors, hospitals and clinics use every day. Fulfilling what the customer needs—that’s the whole reason I’m here.”

How it began: “I was 16, still in high school. There was a recall on some non-sterile kit components where they needed some summer help, so I took that job and thought I was going to be here for 2½ months. Then one of

the production guys told me they needed somebody second shift to help pick up and clean up. I could come after school and do it for four hours a day. And that led to this—more than 41 years. This is the only place I’ve ever worked.” A typical day: “Busy! You name it, I fix it—although not always personally. We cover the facility, the grounds and all the machinery, so I could be doing everything from shoveling sidewalks and throwing salt down in the parking lot to calling contractors to fix a roof leak or responding to a machine breaking. day-to-day fixes and repairs in-house. I grew up with a lot of these machines. With the newer and updated ones, we learn on the fly.” Great minds: “I’ve always been someone who likes to take things apart and put ’em back together, and that’s something I look for when we’re hiring. All good maintenance techs are inquisitive and able to visualize hands-on to understand things. If you’re intimidated, then a lot of times your troubleshooting skills are going to be limited.”
Off the clock: “I’m married with one daughter and three grandchildren. I love sports: the Red Wings, the Lions, and I’m an MSU guy—Michigan State. I’ve been in a bowling league and a golf league since I was young, and I’ve always just loved staying active with outdoor activities.” Secret to success: “Empowering people to make decisions, to do and think on their own instead of just telling them what they have to do. You get way better results. More things get done that way.”
MedTrans makes special stop Driver Joe Ruiz delivers to customers throughout Manhattan, but on Dec. 17, his route included a special stop in Times Square! Joe was on hand to represent our MedTrans drivers as we officially became a public company with our stock trading on the Nasdaq stock exchange. This moment was a true reflection of the hard work of everyone across Medline.

from our Sterile Procedure Tray (SPT) Waukegan, IL site The average employee tenure is 13+ years. This was Medline’s first SPT warehouse, opening in 1995. There are over 44,000 different products that could go into a kit. Medline owns our sterilizers, and we are the only competitor in this space that does. This site is the first of five North American Medline facilities that produce OR sterile SPTs.
