This Mother’s Day, friends of David Jones share the beauty of the basic human truth: there’s no one else in the world who makes you feel like your mum does.
Maybe it’s the pride your mother has in watching you grow and succeed. Perhaps it’s the fact that she knows you inside and out and still loves you harder than anyone else. Whether it’s your own mum or a mother figure in your life, we’re here to celebrate and cherish all the love that our mums give out daily that shapes our lives. We asked eight of our David Jones friends to tell us the lessons they’ve learned from their mothers and share intimate photos that capture their special relationship.

There were wrong turns, laughter, way too much pasta and back-seat driving that could have led to a family divorce (but somehow didn’t). At night, in tiny hotel rooms, I’d find myself – at 35 years old – sleeping at the foot of their bed like an overgrown child.”

My mother found ways to achieve her goals and never accepted ‘no’, even when living in Romania during the communist regime. Those qualities shaped who I am today. Last year, I took her and my daughter to Romania to celebrate her 90th birthday, surrounded by 300 family and friends. She truly looked like a queen, complete with a tiara!”
