Für uns als Organisationskomitee ist es ein unglaubliches Gefühl, die Weltgymnaestrada nach 2007 nun zum zweiten Mal ausrichten zu dürfen. Als eingespieltes Team mit den Erfahrungen aus 2007 und vielen neuen engagierten Männern und Frauen, die mit dabei sind, plus Tausenden von Ehrenamtlichen funktionieren wir als Einheit mit einem Ziel: Den Teilnehmenden aus so vielen Nationen, den BesucherInnen und der Bevölkerung des gastgebenden Bundeslandes Vorarlberg, eine unvergessliche und unvergleichliche Woche bieten zu können. Das, was wir in unseren kühnsten Träumen nicht zu hoffen gewagt hätten, wird am 7. Juli Realität. Wir haben die internationale Turnfamilie wieder zu Gast in unserer Heimat. Unglaublich – sensationell! Alle Turnbegeisterten heißen wir hier im äußersten Westen der Republik Österreich auf das Herzlichste willkommen. Den TurnerInnen können wir ganz klar versprechen: Ihr alle werdet hier mit großer Sehnsucht erwartet! »Es sind die Begegnungen mit Menschen, die das Leben lebenswert machen« – heißt es bei Guy de Maupassant. Dem ist nichts hinzu zu fügen. It is an incredible feeling for us, the organising committee to be able to organise the World Gymnaestrada for the second time after 2007. As a team, working well together with the experience of 2007 and many new dedicated men and women, who along with thousands of volunteers have one common goal: to offer an unforgettable and incomparable week to all the participants from the many countries, the visitors and the population of the host province Vorarlberg. What was previously our wildest dream will become a reality on 7th of July. We have the international gymnastics family again in our home town of Dornbirn, in our homeland of Vorarlberg. Incredible – sensational! A hearty welcome in the name of all our fellow countrymen of the most western province of the republic of Austria for all enthusiastic gymnasts. We can promise all the gymnasts that you will all be eagerly awaited and welcomed with open arms here. Willkommen zurück, Weltgymnaestrada! Welcome back, World Gymnaestrada!

Nach zwölf Jahren gastiert das weltgrößte internationale Breitensportfestival in seiner 16. Auflage zur Freude des ganzen Landes wieder in Vorarlberg. Wie schon 2007, als unsere Region vom ganz besonderen Geist der Weltgymnaestrada erfasst worden war, werden sich die Stadt Dornbirn und das gesamte Vorarlberger Rheintal erneut in einen fulminanten multikulturellen Festivalschauplatz verwandeln. Turnsportbegeisterte aus 69 Nationen beteiligen sich – ein neuer Rekord in der 66-jährigen Geschichte der Weltgymnaestrada. Voller Begeisterung und Vorfreude haben die eingebundenen HelferInnen in den letzten Wochen und Monaten die intensiven organisatorischen Vorbereitungen abgewickelt. Im Mittelpunkt steht das Anliegen, allen Gästen einen angenehmen und unvergesslichen Aufenthalt zu bieten. Es liegt uns viel daran, die Rolle als Gastgeber bestmöglich zu erfüllen. Lasst uns unter dem Motto »come together. show your colours!« wieder gemeinsam ein mitreißendes Sportfest der Begegnung feiern! Den vielen freiwilligen HelferInnen, die mit ihrem Einsatz die Durchführung der Großveranstaltung überhaupt erst möglich machen, danken wir ganz herzlich. To our great delight, the World Gymnaestrada, the largest international gymnastics festival in the world, has returned to Vorarlberg for this, the 16th edition. As in 2007, when Vorarlberg was overcome by the unique World Gymnaestrada spirit, the city of Dornbirn and the entire Rheintal region will now once again turn into an incredible melting-pot festival site. Gymnastics fans from 69 countries are participating in the event – a new record in 66 years of the World Gymnaestrada. Over the last months and weeks, numerous helping hands and volunteers have enthusiastically gotten stuck into the intensive challenges of hosting this event. Great focus has been paid to offering all our numerous visitors a pleasant and unforgettable stay here in Vorarlberg. We are keen to ensure that we fulfill our role as a host to the best possible extent. So, let’s all rally around the motto of “come together. show your colours!” once again and celebrate a wonderful festival of sports! A special thanks goes out to the countless individuals and volunteers who have made such a great event possible with their unwavering commitment.

Liebe Turn-Familie! Dear Gymnastics Family!

Der Österreichische Fachverband für Turnen (ÖFT) und sein Landesverband Vorarlberger Turnerschaft (VTS) sind sehr stolz und glücklich, die weltweite »Turnen für Alle«-Familie zur 16. Weltgymnaestrada in Dornbirn willkommen heißen zu dürfen.

Für die 16. Weltgymnaestrada kommen wir zurück in das schöne Dornbirn. Alle vier Jahre zelebriert die Weltgymnaestrada die Freude des Zusammenseins und des Turnens. Dieser besondere Event zeigt eindrücklich, was der Sport den Menschen überall in der Welt bringen kann. Turnen ist nicht nur eine grundlegende Aktivität für körperliches und geistiges Wohlbefinden, sondern auch eine gemeinsame Sprache und Leidenschaft, die dabei helfen kann, Verbindungen zwischen Menschen mit unterschiedlichem kulturellen Hintergrund herzustellen.

Die Vorbereitungen für dieses Großereignis sind mehr als vier Jahre lang voran geschritten. Nun ist es endlich Zeit für den Höhepunkt – eine spektakuläre Woche mit 18.160 TurnsportlerInnen aus 69 Ländern und allen fünf Kontinenten. Wir danken euch allen für euer Vertrauen! Doch ungeachtet ihrer großen Dimension begeistert und fasziniert die Weltgymnaestrada vor allem mit ihren großartigen Emotionen, ihrer Freude am Sport, ihrer Begeisterung für alle Formen des Turnsports. Wir freuen uns schon riesig auf die unzähligen großartigen Shows in einer unvergesslichen Woche ohne Wettkämpfe, mit dem Lieblingssport von uns allen! The Austrian Gymnastics Federation (ÖFT) and its regional organisation, Vorarlberger Turnerschaft (VTS), are very happy and proud to welcome the global “Gymnastics for All” community to the 16th World Gymnaestrada in Dornbirn. Preparations for this major "Gymnastics for All" event have been going on for more than four years. Now it’s finally time for the climax – a spectacular week with more than 18,160 gymnasts coming from 69 countries across five continents. We thank you all for your support! Regardless of its large scale, above all the World Gymnaestrada promises to be a thrilling and emotional occasion, with pure enjoyment of sports and enthusiasm for gymnastics in all its many forms. We are already looking forward to countless great shows and an unforgettable, uncompetitive week, featuring the very best of our favourite sport!

Ihre einzige Motivation dabei ist die pure Freude dabei zu sein und unvergessliche Momente mit anderen zu teilen. Im Namen des Internationalen Turnverbands danken wir dem Organisationskomitee, dem Österreichischen Fachverband für Turnen, der Region Vorarlberg und der Stadt Dornbirn sowie den tausenden Freiwilligen, die all dies erst möglich machen. Every four years, the World Gymnaestrada celebrates the pure pleasure of being together and doing gymnastics. This outstanding event illustrates what the sport can bring to people all over the world. Gymnastics is not only an essential activity for physical and mental well-being. It is also a common language and passion which helps create connections between people from different cultures. In Dornbirn and its surroundings, thousands of people from all the continents will join group performances marked by their cultures and their own inspiration. They have no other aim but the pure pleasure of taking part and sharing special moments with others. A gymnastics festival of superlatives

Die Weltgymnaestrada ist das größte internationale Breitensportfestival der Wellt und d wird d allle vier Jah hre in einer and deren Stad dt ausgetragen. Das Ziel der Veranstaltung ist es, Menschen aus aller Welt frei von Leistungsdruck und ohne Wettkampf zum Turnen zusammen zu bringen. Im Mittelpunkt stehen das konkurrenzlose Nebeneinander verschiedenster turnerischer Vorführungen und die Freude an der Bewegung. Keine Vorführung gleicht der anderen. Entsprechend der unterschiedlichen Tradition des Turnens in den verschiedenen Ländern bringt jedes Team nach seinen Möglichkeiten Musik, Show, Kostüme und sportliche (durchaus Höchst-) Leistungen in die Veranstaltung ein und trägt einen Teil dazu bei, die Vielfalt und Buntheit des Turnens zu präsentieren. So heißt denn auch das Motto der Weltgymnaestrada 2019: »come together. show your colours!«.

The World Gymnaestrada is the largest international group performance festival in the world, held every four years in a different global city. The aim of the event is to bring together people from all over the globe, with no competitiveness or pressure to perform. The sheer joy of movement takes centre stage, through a wide range of competitiveness-free performances, each different from the last. Each team brings their own music, shows, costumes and performances based on the varying gymnastic traditions of their country, all contributing to the diversity and colour of gymnastics. Quite fitting, then, that the motto of the World Gymaestrada 2019 is “come together. show your colours!”.

What does it mean?

Gymnaestrada ist ein vom Holländer Jan Sommers erfundenes Kunstwort und verbindet »Gymnastik« (Weltbegriff für alles, was mit den Turnsportarten zu tun hat), »strada« (Straße) und »estrada« (Bühne).

The word Gymnaestrada was invented by Jan Sommers from the Netherlands, fusing together “gymnastik” (a globally-recognised word for all things gymnastics), “strada” (street), and “estrada” (stage).

Wie ist das möglich?

How is it made possible?

Die Finanzierung der Weltgymnaestrada erfolgt zum größten Teil über den Teilnehmerbeitrag. Die SportlerInnen bezahlen Reise, Unterkunft, Verpflegung und die Teilnahmegebühr aus eigener Kasse. Zusätzliche Unterstützung kommt von den Sponsoren, denen an dieser Stelle ein herzlicher Dank ausgesprochen wird! Details dazu auf Seite 54. Und ganz besonders bemerkenswert sind die vielen, vielen Stunden an ehrenamtlicher Arbeit aus den Vorarlberger Vereinen. Ohne sie wäre die Umsetzung der Weltgymnaestrada nicht möglich.

The World Gymnaestrada is in large part financed by the registration fee. The participants pay for the travel, accommodation, food, and registration fee themselves. Further support comes from sponsors, to whom we express our huge gratitude! (More info on page 54). Also worthy of a special mention are the great many hours of volunteer work done by the Vorarlberg associations, who make an absolutely invaluable contribution. Without them, we wouldn’t even be able to hold this World Gymnaestrada.

Der Weltturnverband »FIG«

“FIG” – International Gymnastics Federation

Die Abkürzung FIG steht für »Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique« – den Weltturnverband. Die FIG ist der internationale Dachverband für Turnen und der älteste internationale Verband unter den olympischen Sportarten. Er nimmt seit dem Jahr 1896 an den Olympischen Spielen teil, zählt 156 nationale Mitgliedsverbände und hat seinen Sitz in Lausanne (CH).

FIG stands for “Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique” – the International Gymnastics Federation. It is the governing body for gymnastics worldwide and is the oldest established international federation of an Olympic sport, having participated in the Olympic Games since their revival in 1896. The FIG has 156 national member federations and has its headquarters in Lausanne (Switzerland).

Die Vergabe der Weltgymnaestrada erfolgt über den Weltturnverband FIG. Nach einem längeren Bewerbungsprozess wird üblicherweise fünf Jahre vor der Veranstaltung der neue Austragungsort ausgewählt. Dieser Abstand ermöglicht dem jeweiligen Organisationskomitee den Besuch der vorangehenden Weltgymnaestrada mit einem Blick hinter die Kulissen.

The World Gymnaestrada is awarded by the FIG. After a long application process, the new hosting location is normally unveiled five years before the event. This gives the respective organising committee the chance to get a look behind the scenes when visiting the previous World Gymnaestrada.

Im Hinblick auf die Vergabe der Weltgymnaestrada 2019 gab es diesmal eine Ausnahme, denn die Entscheidung für Dornbirn fiel erst während der Weltgymnaestrada 2015 in Finnland. In weiser Voraussicht und positiver Grundstimmung reiste Geschäftsführer Erwin Reis jedoch mit einer kleinen Abordnung nach Helsinki. Im Gepäck hatte er bereits gedruckte Folder sowie ein paar Roll-Ups, und die FIG war beeindruckt, als bereits 2 Stunden nach der Verlautbarung die ersten Folder mit »Weltgymnaestrada 2019 in Dornbirn« verteilt wurden.

The World Gymnaestrada 2019 was something of an exception as the decision to award it to Dornbirn was made during the holding of the previous event in Finland. With good foresight and a sense of optimism, the CEO Erwin Reis travelled with a small delegation to Helsinki. He packed with him some pre-printed documents and roll-ups, and the FIG were obviously impressed as, just two hours after the announcement, the first document labelled “World Gymnaestrada 2019 in Dornbirn” was handed out.

Durch die Weltgymnaestrada werden die Attraktivität und die Breite des Turnens unzähligen Menschen auf freudvolle und zwanglose Art und Weise nähergebracht. Die Weltgymnaestrada motiviert und aktiviert die Menschen zur Bewegung und bildet somit einen elementaren Basisbaustein für den Turnsport und seine weitere Entwicklung. Besonders bemerkenswert ist der Multiplikator-Effekt einer jeden Weltgymnaestrada, denn die Zahlen der Neuanmeldungen in den Turnvereinen schnellen nach jeder Austragung in die Höhe, in manchen Ländern wurden sogar neue Turnvereine gegründet.

The World Gymnaestrada brings together the widest possible spectrum of people in the most enjoyable and relaxed setting. The event motivates and gets people moving, thereby building up a strong basis for the further development of gymnastics. It is particularly worth noting the “legacy” effect of each World Gymnaestrada – the figures for new registrations at gymnastic associations reach new highs after an event is hosted, and in some countries brand new associations are even established.

Ihre Shows sind sehr lebendig und sie leben neben der Bewältigung körperlicher Herausforderungen und entsprechenden Höchstleistungen von Emotionen und Freude.

The values that the World Gymnaestrada shouts from the rooftops are also experienced first-hand by many groups on a personal level. It comes as no surprise when they hear that, for all its competitions, gymnastics is a competitiveness-free zone, where instead the joy of movement, individuality and diversity take centre stage. It is about gymnastic groups in which individuals with and without disabilities get together to perform or dance. Their shows are vibrant and while they involve high performance levels and overcoming physical challenges, also include no small amount of emotion and joy.

»Wir wissen, dass Menschen mit und ohne Behinderung über Fähigkeiten und Stärken verfügen und gemeinsam einen qualitativ hochwertigen, tänzerisch-kulturellen Beitrag in künstlerischer Hinsicht leisten können.« lautet die Philosophie des »Tanzhaus Hohenems« (Vorarlberg, Österreich), welches Britta Hafner und Liba Šelner seit 12 Jahren gemeinsam leiten. Sie waren mit ihrer Gruppe bei der Weltgymnaestrada 2015 in Helsinki dabei und haben viele positive Erfahrungen gesammelt. »Die Vorführungen der Gruppe waren exakt, gelungen, sehr emotional – das spürte das Publikum, das die Ausstrahlung der TänzerInnen an- und aufnahm«, schreibt Doris Rinke († 2016) in ihrem Helsinki-Tagebuch. Sie und viele andere FörderInnen der Inklusion setzen sich für einen fairen und respektvollen Umgang miteinander ein, die Bündelung vieler kleiner Kräfte mit dem Ziel, ein großes Ganzes zu erreichen – exakt für die Werte der Weltgymnaestrada.

Tanzhaus Hohenems (Vorarlberg, Austria), led for the last 12 years by Britta Hafner und Liba Šelner, has this ingrained into their philosophy: “We know that people with or without disabilities have their strengths and abilities, and together can bring forth a high-quality contribution to artistic dance culture.” They took their group to the World Gymnaestrada 2015 in Helsinki for an overwhelmingly positive experience. “The performances of the group were precise, successful, and very emotional – the audience could sense that too, and felt the vibrancy of the dancers first-hand”, wrote Doris Rinke († 2016) in her Helsinki diary. She, as well as many other supporters of inclusivity fly the flag for a fair and respectful bringing together of many individual strengths, achieving something which is bigger than the sum of its parts: exactly the values of the World Gymnaestrada itself.

Neben dem Tanzhaus Hohenems nehmen bei dieser Weltgymnaestrada auch zahlreiche andere Gruppen teil, bei denen Menschen mit und ohne Behinderung gemeinsam auftreten und das Publikum mit vielfältigen Shows begeistern werden – ganz nach dem Motto: »come togehter. show your colours!«.

The colourful five-ray “spiral galaxy” has many layers of meaning and can be interpreted in several different ways ... show your colours … spielt auf die Vielfalt und Buntheit der weltweiten Turngemeinde an. Wörtlich bedeutet »show your colours«: Farbe bekennen oder Flagge zeigen. Für die TeilnehmerInnen kann es aber auch bedeuten: »Zeigt, was ihr könnt! Zeigt eure Show! Zeigt eure Vielfalt! Macht dieses Fest bunt!« Für die Gastgeber und die ZuschauerInnen wiederum kann es heißen: »Zeigt der Welt euer Land und verzaubert mit eurer Gastfreundschaft!«

show your colours … plays with the diversity and vibrance of gymnastics across the world. The literal meaning is a call for all to proudly show which colour you are or which flag you represent. But for participants this can also mean: “Show what you can do! Show your diversity! Hi there,

das Maskottchen der Weltgymnaestrada. Wie ihr unschwer erkennen könnt, bin ich eine Kuh. Ich bin sportlich, aktiv und weltoffen und symbolisiere durch mein buntes Fell die Vielfalt der teilnehmenden Nationen, welche die Weltgymnaestrada besuchen. Außerdem verkörpere ich als Kuh Regionalität und zeige, aus welchem Land ich komme.

I am Dorli, the official mascot of the World Gymnaestrada! In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a cow. But I’m sporty, active, open-minded and with my multi-coloured skin I symbolise the diversity of the participating nations at the World Gymnaestrada. At the same time, as a cow I also stand as a symbol for the place I come from.

Ich wurde als Idee des Marketingleiters Marc Brugger im Mai 2016 geboren. Er beauftragte Mona Nagel mich zu zeichnen. Wie ihr sehen könnt, ist sie eine wahre Künstlerin. Ich ffiinde nämlich, dass ich sehr schön geworden bin. Annette Egger hat dann mein Kostüm entworfen und viele Stunden in mein Outfifit investiert. Es passt perfekt und erfüllt auch den Anspruch, dass ich mich gut darin bewegen kann. Das ist natürlich wichtig, ich hatte nämlich in den letzten Jahren schon viele Einsätze. So war ich mit dem Organisationsteam auf zahlreichen Turnfesten und anderen Veranstaltungen, habe Flyer und Luftballons verteilt, Kinder umarmt, in den Armen von TurnerInnen in Kameras gelacht (ich bin mir ganz sicher, dass in fast jedem Land dieser Welt ein Foto von mir hängt), habe beim Maskottchenrun mitgemacht, war Darstellerin in zahlreichen Videos und habe zum offifiziellen Song getanzt. Wie ihr sehen könnt, bin ich also recht international unterwegs und sogar schon berühmt. Oft schon ist es mir passiert, dass ich von Leuten erkannt wurde, die ich noch nie gesehen habe. Meinen Namen scheinen sowieso alle zu kennen, doch ich glaube, das kommt auch von meiner aufregenden Taufe. Es gab nämlich eine internationale Abstimmung darüber, wie ich heißen solle. Und stellt euch vor, es haben tatsächlich 5.029 Personen aus 18 Nationen mitgestimmt. Ist das nicht unglaublich? 1.925 Personen haben sich für den Namen Dorli ausgesprochen und das bin ich jetzt, eure Dorli. Ich hoffe, wir sehen uns auf der Weltgymnaestrada.

I was born as the idea of the marketing manager Marc Brugger in May 2016. He then commissioned Mona Nagel to draw me – as you can see, she is a true artist. I must say, I came out rather beautifully. Annette Egger designed my costume and invested many hours in this outfit. I think it suits me down to the ground. It also means I can move very freely, which is important because I’ve been super busy these last few years: I’ve accompanied the organisers at loads of gymnastics festivals and events, given out flyers and balloons, hugged children, smiled into the camera with loads of gymnasts (I’m pretty sure there’s now a photo of me in every country in the world!), taken part in a mascot race, starred in countless videos, and danced to the official song. As you can see, I’ve been globetrotting and become something of a star; on many occasions I’ve been recognised by people I’ve never met before. Everyone seems to know my name by now, and I think that has something to do with my exciting naming ceremony. Actually, there was an international vote on the topic of my name – and incredibly 5,029 people from 18 countries took part! Isn’t that amazing? A grand total of 1,925 people voted for the name “Dorli”, and so that’s what I am now – your Dorli.

The chorus “like a rainbow in the sky” totally sums up what the World Gymaestrada is all about. It does so in a way that everyone can easily understand, no matter where they’re from in the world or what language they speak.

»Like a rainbow in the sky« »Like a rainbow in the sky« lauten Titel und Refrain des Weltgymnaestrada-Songs, der im April 2019 veröffentlicht wurde. Er erzählt von den Gemeinsamkeiten der TurnerInnen aus aller Welt, von dem, was sie verbindet, von Freundschaften, Chancen und Grenzenlosigkeit. “Like a rainbow in the sky”: that’s the title and chorus of the World Gymnaestrada song, which was published back in April. It’s all about the togetherness of the performers who come from all over the world, and about what connects them: friendship, opportunity and limitlessness. The song is moving not only in a metaphorical way but literally, in the fact that it’s got its own accompanying dance routine. For anyone who still doesn’t know the steps, you can check out the “instruction video” and be a part of it yourself and get up to dance with all the participants.

»Like a rainbow in the sky« lädt somit alle zum Mitmachen ein und wird die Weltgymnaestrada die ganze Woche begleiten. Eine Kurzversion davon wird als Jingle jede Vorführung einläuten. Außerdem gibt es einen Klingelton daraus, den so richtige Fans kostenlos auf ihr Handy laden können.

“Like a rainbow in the sky” simply invites everyone to join in and will become familiar to all throughout World Gymnaestrada week. There will be a short version as a jingle at the start of each performance, and even a ringtone version for fans to download straight to their phone.

Bemerkenswert ist, dass die Komponisten, Sänger, Choreografen und das Filmteam aus Vorarlberg stammen. »Like a rainbow in the sky« ist somit »made in Vorarlberg« und beweist einmal mehr, dass Vorarlberg voller Talente, Kreativität und Weltoffenheit steckt.

It’s especially notable that the composers, singers, choreographers and the film team all come from here in Vorarlberg. This means “Like a rainbow in the sky” is very much “made in Vorarlberg” and shows once again that this area is full of talent, creativity and open-mindedness.

Bregenz, located on Lake Constance, offers a range of beautiful attractions. Historic buildings, traditional landmarks and modern architecture show Bregenz in all its facets.

The spacious marketplace in the centre of Dornbirn welcomes you with a beautiful pedestrianized zone with shops, open-air restaurants and street cafés.

The historic centre of the oldest medieval city in Vorarlberg presents itself as an exciting labyrinth of alleyways with lots of bars, restaurants, shops, and interesting discoveries.

Götzis is located in the middle of the Rheintal region and has about 11,000 inhabitants. Within half an hour you can reach the majority of Vorarlberg and the Lake Constance region.

Located right on the shores of Lake Constance, you can enjoy your leisure time at the wonderful lakeside by swimming, walking, cycling, standup paddling, and much more.

Lauterach is situated between the cities of Bregenz and Dornbirn, with highlights including the “Lauteracher Ried” nature area and the beautiful Janner Lake.

Beautiful natural and recreational areas such as the “Alter Rhein” invite to linger or do sporting activities. There’s a variety of cultural and shopping offerings.

Mäder, well-known for environmental protection with a focus on energy saving, is a commune situated next to the Alpenrhein and bordering Switzerland.

The market town of Rankweil offers great hospitality and various leisure opportunities. The marketplace in the centre is a popular meeting point and a stage for many events.

Wolfurt

Sulz and Röthis are two small villages of between 2,000 and 2,500 inhabitants each, looking forward to welcoming and hosting the 170 participants of the Czech team.

Schlins is located in the heart of the Walgau region. The “Jagdberg”, which hosts various open-air events in summer, is especially worth seeing.

Welcome to Schwarzach, a neighboring community of Dornbirn with 3,985 inhabitants which was historically known for its leading whetstone production.

Wolfurt is home to one of Austria‘s most successful gymnastics clubs, and also a stage at the Cubus events centre. Wolfurt warmly welcomes its Gymnaestrada friends!

Das Konzept der Nationendörfer beruht auf der Idee, dass die TeilnehmerInnen je nach Herkunft möglichst als ganze Nation im gleichen Ort untergebracht werden. Dies wurde 2007 bereits so umgesetzt und trug wesentlich zum Erfolg der Veranstaltung bei. Die Gastvereine und die Bevölkerung gaben ihr Bestes um »ihre Nation« willkommen zu heißen und die TeilnehmerInnen brachten Schwung und Farbe in »ihr« Nationendorf. Es entstanden Freundschaften und persönliche Beziehungen zwischen TeilnehmerInnen und GastgeberInnen, was den Aufenthalt zu einem speziellen Erlebnis machten. So ist der bevorstehende Besuch der Weltgymnaestrada 2019 für viele eine »Rückkehr zu Freunden«.

An dieser Stelle ein großes Dankeschön an alle Nationendörfer, die in ihrer Gastgeberrolle ausgezeichnete Arbeit leisten. Ohne ihr Engagement wäre die Weltgymnaestrada nicht ein so überwältigendes Fest der Herzlichkeit und Gastfreundschaft. Danke an Altach, Bregenz, Dornbirn, Feldkirch, Götzis, Hard, Höchst, Hohenems, Lauterach, Lustenau, Mäder, Rankweil, Schlins, Schwarzach, Sulz-Röthis und Wolfurt.

National Villages The concept of National Villages is that all participants can be accommodated as one nation as close as possible to each other in the same location. This was the case in 2007 and was a big factor in the event’s success. The host clubs and local people always try their best to provide a warm welcome to “their” nation (for example, by putting up posters in the corresponding languages), while the participants bring with them their own energy and colours to their particular National Village. Friendships and personal relations are formed between the participants and their hosts, making their stay a special experience for all concerned. This means that for many, this year’s World Gymnaestrada will also be a chance to rekindle old friendships. We’d like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thanks to all National Villages, who do an extraordinary job in hosting so many participants in local schools. Without their commitment, the World Gymnaestrada would not be the incredible festival of cordiality and hospitality that it is. Thanks to: Altach, Bregenz, Dornbirn, Feldkirch, Götzis, Hard, Höchst, Hohenems, Lauterach, Lustenau, Mäder, Rankweil, Schlins, Schwarzach, Sulz-Röthis and Wolfurt.
