As we shared a little more than a week ago, new printers would be installed in the upcoming weeks. Well, guess what folks? They’re here...

In order to get everyone ready for the new printer systems, please take a few minutes and review the attachments and the information below. THERE ARE SOME MAJOR CHANGES IN HOW TO UTILIZE THE NEW PRINTERS. So it’s critical that you take a few minutes and review the three attached PDFs. They will provide details of the information listed below.

Here are the major changes: 1. The new printers are scheduled for delivery starting Wednesday, December 16, 2015.

a. There will only be one default printer choice. You will no longer select which printer you want

to send your job to from the printer dialog on your computer.

b. When you submit your print job to the new “Medic_Secure_Print on Equitrac” printer it will

be held in the queue;

c. Then go to ANY new printer location and release your print job. In other words: you don’t

have to pick a printer. Your print job will be at any new printer, waiting to be released.

2. How do I get my printer jobs? With the new printer system, each employee will need to use their Employee ID Badge to release individual print jobs. However, you must first register your ID badge in order to use this new system 3. c. How to make copies or use the Scan to-Me functionality that will now be available since you

will be logged into the device when trying to use it Overall, this is really great news: new printers that allow you to print anywhere a new printer is located.

As previously noted, the latest Performance Pay Tracking Period began on November 1st. We are striving to meet the Patient Satisfaction goal of a ≥ 65% rating (experience as “Excellent”).

In order to create a comfortable margin of performance, while continuing to improve the patient experience, we would like to share some feedback from recent patient focus groups.

The two areas that patients value the most are: 1. Communication from the treating crew: “Explain treatment options and procedures” “Provide reassurance and compassionate communication with the patient” 2. Setting clear expectations: “Set transport length expectation” “Set a triage level expectation before arriving at the hospital”

On December 16, Medic’s, Michael “Landon” Bush was honored with the Above and Beyond Award, presented by the Mecklenburg District Attorney’s Office.

Along with four other recipients, Landon was one of the first recipients of this inaugural award.

While off-duty, Landon noticed a car stopped in the middle of the I-485. Crossing three lanes horizontally, officials later determined that the car’s driver was intoxicated and had passed out on the freeway that February 2015 evening. Realizing the potential damage this situation could cause the driver and on-coming motorists, Landon helped the unconscious driver to safety. He then moved the driver’s vehicle to the side of the road, shortly thereafter. Landon’s selfless act contributed to keeping the driver safe, as well as others using the I-485. Thank you Landon for showing Mecklenburg County just how awesome Medic employees really are.

AWARD

There have been many questions about the new carry in bags and why they are taking so long to hit the streets. Patrick Crane is pleased to announce that the wait is over. The new bags will be placed in the system this week.

Here is what you need to know: • Bags will begin rolling out into the field on Wednesday, December 16th at 1000 • All ALS trucks in the fleet will have the new bags by December 20th at the latest.

• Until all of the bags are deployed, there will be trucks with old bags still in use. Again, the transition will be complete by December 20th.

• While you are enjoying the new bags, we’ll be working to design and test the back end processes necessary to allow us to perform the restock function in the warehouse • For the time being, OSTs will check and restock the bags the same way they are the current green bags; in the back of the trucks.

• The bag organization and contents have been carefully designed and tested by your peers. PLEASE do not add any supplies to the new bags or rearrange their contents.

The uniformity of the bag organization is cri tical to the OST’s ability to be able to restock

and inventory each bag in a timely manner.

Please support this process.

• Placing the bags in the system without the back end processes in place means that, for now, our ability to track expired items is less than perfect. Please remain on the lookout until we can track them as intended through the new bag inventory and replacement process.

• If you have any issues with the bag or its contents, please inform an OST, myself, or your Supervisor immediately so we can address it.

Again, we apologize for the delay in the rollout process.

The development of the new restocking process is a more in depth project than we gave it credit for; rather than hold up the new bag implementation any longer, we decided to roll them out now while we continue working on the assembly line design.

APPETIZER BACON WRAPPED WATER CHESTNUTS INGREDIENTS 1 cup ketchup 1 cup brown sugar 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce 16 oz sliced bacon 3 (5 oz) cans water chestnuts wooden toothpicks INSTRUCTIONS 1. Preheat your over to 350 degrees.

2. In a small saucepan combine the ketchup, brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce and heat until bubbly and then remove from heat.

3. Cut your bacon strips into thirds. Don’t use too think of a cut of bacon for this or it wont get crispy.

4. Wrap each water chestnut with a slice of bacon and secure with a toothpick.

5. Dip each bite into the sauce to coat thoroughly and place into a baking pan.

6. Repeat with the remainder of the bacon and water chestnuts.

7. Be careful not to crowd the pan. As these appetizers cook, the bacon fat renders and will fill the bottom of the pan. If you place too many in your SEPTEMBER 2014sogbaking dish you will end up with gy bites.

Is this covered by insurance?

What if my last mammogram was not at a Novant Health facility?

You can still receive a mammogram on our mobile mammography unit. We will contact your previous provider to obtain films from your most recent exam for comparison. Past results are necessary to ensure accuracy and that no changes have occurred in your breast health.

Mammograms are covered as a preventive screening every 366 days starting at age 40 for most insurance plans. For your convenience, we will file a claim with your insurance provider on your behalf. Please bring your insurance card.
