The latest Performance Pay Tracking Period began on November 1. We are striving to meet the Patient Satisfaction goal of a ≥ 50% rating (experience as “Excellent”). In order to create a comfortable margin of performance, while continuing to improve the patient experience, we would like to share some feedback from recent patient focus groups. The two areas that patients value the most are: 1. Communication from the treating crew: “Explain treatment options and procedures” “Provide reassurance and compassionate communication with the patient” 2. Setting clear expectations: “Set transport length expectation” “Set a triage level expectation before arriving at the hospital”

MEDIC WINS TWO AMBY AWARDS By Gregory Grevelding CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Mecklenburg EMS Agency (Medic) was recognized during the 2017 American Ambulance Association (AAA) Annual Conference & Trade Show with AMBY Awards from the Employee Program and the Quality Improvement categories. The Employee Program award was presented for the 2017 Night of Honor employee recognition event, while the Quality Improvement award was given for Medic’s employee managed, new ambulance redesign project. “I was thrilled to hear what your team had done,” said James Green, safety engineer at National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Division of Safety Research. Receiving an American Ambulance Association AMBY award distinguishes excellence in the ambulance profession and the ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit that epitomize AAA members. “While it seems straightforward to me, the research engineer guy, I appreciate it is not something the average EMT or paramedic would think about,” said Green referring to Medic’s new ambulance design. “That’s what makes your team’s effort so extraordinary as reflected in the AAA award.” Accepting the two AMBY awards was Joe Penner, executive director of Mecklenburg EMS Agency. “It is truly an honor to be awarded, not one, but two of these prestigious AMBY awards,” said Penner. “We have our work cut out for us next year.” The AAA represents ambulance services across the United States that participate in serving more than 75% of the U.S. population. Their mission is to promote health care policies that ensure excellence in the ambulance services industry and provide research, education and communications programs to enable its members to effectively address the needs of the communities they serve. These are Medic’s first and second AMBY awards.
