Just a friendly reminder regarding Medicare and Medicaid compliance requirements for EPRC documentation. The agency is unable to bill Medicare or Medicaid for any transport that doesn’t meet these guidelines. • Please ensure that you obtain the appropriate signatures for transports when patients are unable to sign. If the patient is unable to sign and you select mental or physically incapable as the reason the patient was unable to sign the ticket, then the narrative and subjective portion of the ticket should indicate why the patient was mentally or physically incapable of signing on their on-behalf. If the patient’s condition alone does not support why they could not sign, please add a sentence at the end of your comments as to why the patient was unable to sign. • (Not having access to the patient at the hospital is not considered a valid reason for not getting a signature) • When selecting the Patient Conditions under the Billing Portion of Siren, please ensure your narrative and subjective portion of the ticket supports your selection.

• We are at a 90% matching rate with our HL7 hospital patient demographics matching process. Crews can help increase our matching % by remembering to record the patient’s name, social security number, and the admitting facilities account number. For CHS and Novant facilities this account number will be known as the CSN number. If you are transporting a trauma patient please get their trauma pack name and trauma pack number.

As previously noted, the latest Performance Pay Tracking Period began on July 1st. We are striving to meet the Patient Satisfaction goal of a ≥ 65% rating (experience as “Excellent”). In order to create a comfortable margin of performance, while continuing to improve the patient experience, we would like to share some feedback from recent patient focus groups. The two areas that patients value the most are: 1. Communication from the treating crew: “Explain treatment options and procedures” “Provide reassurance and compassionate communication with the patient”

2. Setting clear expectations: “Set transport length expectation” “Set a triage level expectation before arriving at the hospital”
