As previously noted, the latest Performance Pay Tracking Period began on July 1st. We are striving to meet the Patient Satisfaction goal of a ≥ 68% rating (experience as “Excellent”). In order to create a comfortable margin of performance, while continuing to improve the patient experience, we would like to share some feedback from recent patient focus groups. The two areas that patients value the most are: 1. Communication from the treating crew: “Explain treatment options and procedures” “Provide reassurance and compassionate communication with the patient” 2. Setting clear expectations: “Set transport length expectation” “Set a triage level expectation before arriving at the hospital”

Just a friendly reminder to please use your Agency provided eye protection while engaged in patient care. Wearing eye protection helps to prevent eye trauma and reduces the risk of your eyes being exposed to a blood borne pathogen. How likely is it that an incident will occur? In the 2015 fiscal year, we had nine (9) incidents involving eye exposures or trauma. Five (5) exposure incidents involved a patient spitting at providers. Another four (4) incidents involved foreign objects striking an employee’s eye. Safety glasses are for your protection and must be used in conjunction with the PPE Policy/Exposure Control Policy which states: “Wear appropriate face and eye protection when splashes, sprays, spatters, or droplets of blood or OPIM pose a hazard to the eye, nose, or mouth.” This policy can be found on the Extranet under SEPTEMBER 2014 Employee Health Services. If you have not received eye protection or have misplaced your original pair, please see an OST in logistics. If you have any questions, please contact Amy Broughton at amyb@medic911.com or 704-943-6095. medic911.com

Just a quick building project update for everyone since it’s been pretty quiet lately. We are still working with the County, our architects and the construction management firm to nail down final plans. Needless to say, this is a very large construction project. Our ability to meet the long term needs of this Agency within budget completely lies in the up-front planning process – which is precisely why it is taking so long. To date, there have been 21 revised renditions created for the new Wilkinson building. As with any redevelopment process, it’s time consuming. Every rendering needs to be reviewed, commented on and priced; then the architects go back to the drawing board to make necessary modifications. The last meeting we had two weeks ago was very promising. As soon as we have a plan that we believe fits within budget and meets our expressed needs, we will share it Agency wide and make one more pass at departmental feedback. Until such time, hang in there and thank you for your patience. If you have any questions, please contact Jeff Keith anytime at jeffk@medic911.com or 704-943-6160.
