Progress regarding the construction of Medic’s future Wilkinson Boulevard headquarters continues to steadily march along. Some points of note: • Demolition of structures on the parcel that are not being retained as part of the project is nearing completion. • The Ford Building, which will be the future home of the core operations portions of the Agency, has been completely gutted inside; the building’s steel and concrete structure is very sound and will serve as the foundation for the new headquarters. • The permitting process, both at the local and state level, is well underway. • Initial vendor bids for the steel and precast items have been received and will likely be awarded sometime this week; these items were put out to bid early due to the lengthy lead time required to produce such items. • RFPs relative to the other components of the construction project will be issued in the coming weeks and the bid process will likely be closed out in late July. • Site work (moving of earth; grading, etc.) on the property will begin in July. • Multi-Agency project teams are currently working on designing/developing plans relative to building security, CMED, back-end IT infrastructure, and various audio/video related needs throughout the building. Those are the current highlights worth sharing. As it stands currently, we are still 100% on track to complete this project in the late fall of 2017. As previously noted, the latest Performance Pay Tracking Period began on March 1st. We are striving to meet the Patient Satisfaction goal of a ≥ 65% rating (experience as “Excellent”). In order to create a comfortable margin of performance, while continuing to improve the patient experience, we would like to share some feedback from recent patient focus groups. The two areas that patients value the most are: 1. Communication from the treating crew: “Explain treatment options and procedures” “Provide reassurance and compassionate communication with the patient”

2. Setting clear expectations: “Set transport length expectation” “Set a triage level expectation before arriving at the hospital”

I would like to take a moment and provide just a quick update from the Module Design Team. Since the March in-service, a lot of testing has occurred to further improve the functionality of the module. Several series of PDSA testing were performed in the cardboard mock-up of the module for improved ergonomics, stretcher placement, seat placement, outside compartment configuration, and the first pass on the stocking of the drawers and cabinets. We also have made several trips to AEV during the construction process to further improve the design. One correction we were already able to make was with regard to the flip up restocking cabinet faces. After seeing them in person, we quickly realized that they may be easier for logistics to use when re-stocking, however the design severely limits a crew’s ability to access equipment. The cabinet faces were subsequently replaced with fully sized, clear Lexan doors for improved access. Also, amber
lights were added to the rear doors below the windows for improved safety when parked on-scene. We expect delivery of the first two Dodges the week of June 13-17. After we receive a firm date of delivery we will conduct another series of PDSA tests for equipment placement, improved workflow, and stocking/restocking of the supplies. To successfully run these tests we will require several field employees to participate. We will send out a communication to sign up for this opportunity shortly. On behalf of the entire Module Design Team I would like to personally thank each and every one of you that have provided input on this project; it has truly made the team’s job easier and the design of the module better.
