As previously noted, the latest Performance Pay Tracking Period began on March 1st. We are striving to meet the Patient Satisfaction goal of a ≥ 65% rating (experience as “Excellent”). In order to create a comfortable margin of performance, while continuing to improve the patient experience, we would like to share some feedback from recent patient focus groups. The two areas that patients value the most are: 1. Communication from the treating crew: “Explain treatment options and procedures” “Provide reassurance and compassionate communication with the patient”

2. Setting clear expectations: “Set transport length expectation” “Set a triage level expectation before arriving at the hospital”

Who is Up for a Challenge? The Healthy Charlotte Council, sponsored by the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, challenges employers, their employees, friends and family to get out and walk. April 6, 2016 is the kick-‐off for National Public Health Week and the official start of the Healthy Charlotte Council’s Walking Wednesdays challenge. Why walk? It is easy. It doesn’t cost anything. Almost everyone can do it. It reduces stress. It gives you a chance to think. And it can help you lose weight and become healthier. So, WE CHALLENGE YOU! We challenge you to get your employees, friends and family out walking. It is a simple challenge. Council representatives from the City of Charlotte, YMCA, Bissell and other local companies have challenged each other to encourage at least 500 people each to walk for at least 30-‐minutes any Wednesday during the challenge period that begins April 6 and ends June 29, 2016. Our goal is to get more people moving and more people interested in becoming healthier. What is so significant about walking? The Center for Disease Control and Prevention defines brisk walking as a pace of three miles per hour or more, or roughly 20 minutes per mile. A recent study showed that individuals could reduce the risk of early death by as much as 30 percent by taking a brisk walk for just 30 minutes per day. If you are up for the challenge, we are looking for you to step up (pun intended) and join us. We are keeping this simple by asking for volunteers to reach out to various groups (e.g. departments within a company, civic groups, family, Facebook friends, etc.) to encourage them to walk and involve as many different individuals as possible. We will provide you with a very simple spreadsheet to record the walkers’ names, the dates walked, and the miles/minutes/steps (one or all of those metrics) covered. Share the spreadsheet with others to help you keep track, or have walkers report directly to you. It’s your choice. Just get out there and walk! Don’t have 500 employees? No problem -‐ we still want you! Just register your group and get as many people as you can moving for better health. For more information or to register your group, email Molly Burroughs at 4 molly@elitewellnesscharlotte.com medic911.com or Kate Wheeler at kate.wheeler@ymcacharlotte.org.
