The latest Performance Pay Tracking Period began on March 1. We are striving to meet the Patient Satisfaction goal of a ≥ 50% rating (experience as “Excellent”). In order to create a comfortable margin of performance, while continuing to improve the patient experience, we would like to share some feedback from recent patient focus groups. The two areas that patients value the most are: 1. Communication from the treating crew: “Explain treatment options and procedures” “Provide reassurance and compassionate communication with the patient” 2. Setting clear expectations: “Set transport length expectation” “Set a triage level expectation before arriving at the hospital”

Paramedic Crew Chief, Tyler North’s son Jace came by to see his Dad at work. Our crews sacrifice time away from their families to take care of others. Thank you to the North family and to the 560 families that SEPTEMBER 2014 support our staff. Photo Courtesy of Molly Malinowski (a pretty awesome EMT)

To save a life, hold a hand, and be prepared to respond in our community when and where our patients need us. This is Medic’s Purpose Statement. As a member of the EMS community it can be difficult to maintain a sunny disposition. Comforting a sick patient, being a family’s calming voice, or working through the loss of a patient can be extremely stressful. Brandis Ridenhour is not only able to achieve these tasks but maintains an optimistic outlook and smile while preforming them. She is known throughout Medic for providing excellent patient care, supporting her co-workers and upholding Medic’s values in the community. As an employee and co-worker, Brandis’ positive attitude and always friendly demeanor shines through when needed most. She has led and assisted her co-workers and other EMS professionals with PTSD awareness and participates as part of an EMS motorcycle group to raise EMS awareness in the community.
