The latest Performance Pay Tracking Period began on Nov. 1. We are striving to meet the Patient Satisfaction goal of a ≥ 50% rating (experience as “Excellent”). In order to create a comfortable margin of performance, while continuing to improve the patient experience, we would like to share some feedback from recent patient focus groups. The two areas that patients value the most are: 1. Communication from the treating crew: “Explain treatment options and procedures” “Provide reassurance and compassionate communication with the patient” 2. Setting clear expectations: “Set transport length expectation” “Set a triage level expectation before arriving at the hospital”

Medic’s move to our new headquarters is right around the corner. In order to prepare, one task includes redesigning the Medic business card. To help ensure that we’re serving the needs of all Medic employees, we need ideas and suggestions for the new card. For example, one request is to include white space on the back of the card so field members can write on it. So, let us know what you’d like to see on the new business cards by emailing Tiffany at tiffanya@medic911.com. Please submit your ideas no later than Friday, March 3, 1700.
FEB 20 - MAR 10 WHO TO NOMINATE Nominating someone is simple: tell us about a Medic employee who actively works in his/her community AND promotes positive change (and attitude) within the Medic family. HOW TO NOMINATE 1. Login to My Medic 2. Click “Incentives and Recognition” 3. Fill out and submit the Burnette - Nobles form

STRYKER STRETCHERS: SAFETY BAR The Agency has verified with Stryker that the ‘safety bar’ is approved for lifting our new stretchers. Stryker has also confirmed that the safety bar is weight rated for up to 700 lbs, which is the full weight rating of the stretcher. This is extremely important for employee safety for the following reasons: • Employees can lift the stretcher using the safety bar at the head of the stretcher (as demonstrated in the photo below) • Using the safety bar as a lift point allows a body position closer to the stretcher and keeps feet clear of the wheels while the stretcher is in the lowest position • The safety bar is a few inches lower than the stretcher frame which reduces the lift height required of the crew member at the head of the stretcher • The safety bar has a smaller diameter than the frame which may help lifters to maintain better grip when utilizing • Both the frame and safety bar are acceptable lifting points • When completing a 4 person lift, both lifters at the head of the stretcher must utilize the same part of the stretcher as their lifting point to prevent tipping – therefore both lifters must use the frame or the safety bar in a collaborative effort Please remember to utilize and maintain proper ergonomics when lifting to prevent injury. Please contact Amy Broughton amyb@medic911.com with any questions or concerns regarding this information.
