THE ESSENCE OF A Creative Individual

I have said this time and time again

“A person coming into your life is often there for a moment or forever, either way you do not know who they are as a person, until you begin to engage in conversation”. With that being said, I met an incredible young woman by the name of Essence Bailey.

Before I continue, you must realize that there are many meanings of the word Essence and the one that fits her is often defined as: The core nature and important qualities of a person.

The meaning definitely is an accurate description of Miss Bailey, the 18yr old student who attends the University of Davis, which is located in Ca. Essence grew up and lived in Santa Rosa with her family which includes: both loving parents and two remarkable and amazing older sisters. Essence has given full credit to her sisters for shaping her into a highly-spirited and confident young lady. I can honestly say first-hand that Essence displays drive and confidence. As a young adult, she is driven, aware and creative. She’s also a person who knows their space in the world and how it will be occupied.

With many life goals ahead as a first year student, she decided to major in Design with an emphasis on Fashion. Essence has her eyes on the prize, by developing her own style and knowledge in two highly creative genres: Digital Photography and the other is Journalism. Another important quality is her compassion as an Activist

Many African American women and men, (including myself) may face or have faced racism, prejudice and hate. Unfortunately Essence experienced prejudice on a continuous basis, but in different social locations. What is to be appreciated is how she recognizes that the world is in need of change and all it takes is for someone to speak up and say what is right, wrong and then take action.

Essence shared with me a very inspiring and educational independent body of work, done by several people and it’s titled: SOUL OF ESSENCE. The stories and articles are very uplifting, caring and needed. The topics center around all walks of life and the struggles that so many have dealt with or deal with almost everyday. The most effective way to create change is to place ourselves in another person’s shoes and then walk their path. Overall, there is a long road ahead and SOUL OF ESSENCE has written subjects like:Racial Discrimination In Front Of Our Eyes, An Inside Look Into Everyday Lives Of People Of Color, Mental Health and the LGBTQ Community.

These are the topics that will help a person gain a better understanding of what people actually go through. At the end of the day, it’s all about support and compassion. I’m honored to have met Miss Essence Bailey, a young lady who can see her purpose and the actions that it takes for success. She is an artistic person and shares her voice to help others understand the importance of social change and more importantly are the people who need it most, in the form of Equality, Acceptance and Love.

“I always express myself through different art mediums” Essence Bailey.

Remember, Media Made Magazine wrote about her first!!
