Tally reaches 565 ■ VICTORIA’S Coronavirus death toll reached 565 people on Monday.
Premier Daniel Andrews announced the grim figures at the start of the week, with 41 new deaths from COVID-19 reported. The total number of cases as at Monday (Aug. 31) was 19,080.
Within Victoria, 27 of the new cases are linked to outbreaks or complex cases and 46 are under investigation. There were 41 new deaths from COVID-19 reported. Four women and three men aged in their 70s, 10 women and seven men aged in their 80s, 13 women and three men aged in their 90s and one woman aged in her 100s.
Monday's deaths total includes 33 people who died in previous weeks but were reported by a number of aged care facilities to the Department of Health and Human Services in the preceding 24 hours. Some 38 of the 41 deaths were linked to known outbreaks in aged care facilities. ● Report on Page 10
