Local Briefs Time to prepare
■ The Whittlesea Agricultural Society is hoping that the annual Show can still go away in November. In the meantime it is suggesting that juniors can put in some practice for items that can be entered. Cookery items include cup cakes, five drop scones, gingerbread ‘persons’, uncooked slice, chocolate cake and muffins. Suggested confectionery items are coconut ice, triffles, toffee in patty pans, ‘rocky road’, homemade chocolates using moulds, and nougat.

● Timothy Griffin ■ Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate missing North Warrandyte man Timothy Griffin. The 40-year-old was last seen in Upper Ferntree Gully on Thursday (April 23). Police have concerns for his welfare due to a medical condition and the length of time he has been missing. An image of Timothy has been released in the hope that someone may have information on his current whereabouts. Anyone who sights Timothy is urged to contact Eltham Police Station on 9430 4500.

Yering fatality
Montmorency
■ An elderly woman, who was the sole occupant of a vehicle, died at the scene of a collision in Yering last Thursday (Apr. 23). Emergency services were called to the Melba Highway, just north of MacIntyre Lane, following reports of a two-car collision. One male occupant of the second vehicle, a ute, was airlifted to hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries. A second male occupant of the ute has been taken to hospital by road ambulance.

■ Yarra Ranges Council says it is pleased that short term accommodation providers, such as Airbnb, have changed their policy to not allow hosts to promote their premises in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. Council wrote to the Federal and State Governments on April 7 asking that they direct short term accommodation providers to stop the promotion of self-isolation packages.
Lunch at Yering ■ The Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of Victoria will be holding a lunch at the Terrace Cafe, Yering Meadows Golf Club, 178-180 Victoria Rd, Yering, commencing at 12 Noon on Sunday, October 25. Subject to the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, of course.

■ A local Beveridge family honoured ANZAC Day by standing at the end of their driveway at 6 am and teenage daughter Briana played the Last Post and Rouse on her clarinet. Briana started practising after hearing about Music for Mateship, an initiative that encouraged people across Australia to play the traditional military service songs at the end of their driveways on ANZAC Day.
