■ A range of new Mayors have been elected at Councils in south-eastern metropolitan Melbourne. Cr Fiona Stitfold has been elected 2023-24 Mayor of Bayside, As one of a family with five generations of connection to Bayside, Cr Stitfold grew up in Sandringham then left to work and live in different places both in Australia and overseas. “I’m excited about leading this Council and am firmly committed to working collaboratively with my fellow Councillors to ensure we deliver positive outcomes for our residents.” Cr Alex del Porto was elected as Deputy Mayor and Cr Hanna El Mouallem was elected as Chair of the Planning and Amenity Delegated Committee for 2023-24. Cr Lisa Hollingsworth (Lynden Ward) is the new Mayor of the City of Boroondara for the 2023–24 Council year. Cr Felicity Sinfield was elected Deputy Mayor. A long-time local resident, newly elected Mayor Cr Hollingsworth is looking forward to working together to make Boroondara a better place to live, work and visit. “The year ahead brings exciting opportunities for Boroondara and we will continue to focus our efforts as a Council to deliver what is most important to our community. This includes protecting the character of our neighbourhoods and addressing climate change in our community,” Cr Hollingsworth said. Kingston will be led by its first ever female Mayor and Deputy Mayor team with Cr Jenna Davey-Burns elected as Mayor, and Cr Tracey Davies as Deputy Mayor for the year. Wattle Ward Councillor Davey-Burns was elected to Council in 2020 and is serving her first term as Mayor. She has previously served as Deputy Mayor. Chicquita Ward Councillor Davies was also elected to Council in 2020 and is serving her first term as Deputy Mayor. Cr Davey-Burns said she was deeply honoured that her colleagues had placed their trust in her and is both humbled and elated to serve and lead Kingston. Cr Heather Cunsolo (Gateway Ward) is serving the Port Phillip community as Mayor for the second consecutive year after being reelected. Former Mayor Cr Louise Crawford (Canal Ward) was elected Deputy Mayor. They will hold these roles for the final 12 months of this Council’s four-year term. Yarra’s Councillors have elected Cr Edward Crossland as Mayor and Cr Anab Mohamud as Deputy Mayor for the next 12 months. The election took place at a ceremonial Council Meeting on Wednesday, November 15. “It is a great honour to be elected as Mayor of Yarra,” he said. “I’m particularly keen to work collaboratively with the Councillor group and community to plan for our growing city, address housing affordability, Yarra’s financial sustainability objectives and ensure we’re planning ahead to provide the infrastructure and services our current and future community needs,” Cr Crossland said. At Glen Eira , Cr Anne-Marie Cade was elected Mayor. At Stonnington Council, Cr Joe Gianfriddo was elected as Mayor. Cr Mike Scott is Stonnington Deputy Mayor.
