■ Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp’s Chief-of-Staff Jacob Clifton has resigned. Herald Sun journalists Kieran Rooney and John Masanauskas reported that Mr Clifton quit his position just weeks after he was stood down pending an internal review. The newspaper reported that he had stopped coming into work while an internal process involving their behaviour was underway. “Jacob Clifton has resigned from his position at the City of Melbourne and finished with the organisation yesterday,” a Council representative was reported to say. “Mr Clifton has not commented publicly on the matter and had not attended work since the review began, but this week was elected as a delegate for Victorian Labor’s state conference representing the Socialist Left faction,” said the Herald Sun. Mr Clifton’s departure follows soon after the departure of the Council’s CEO Justin Hanney who was in the headlines after raising tens of thousands of dollars for a boat in which he was a co-owner with a Council contractor.
TOORAK SMASH WOMAN BLOWS .287
■ A woman was alleged to have found to be almost six times over the alcohol limit following a crash in Toorak on Wednesday night (Mar. 29). Police were called to reports a woman had crashed her car into the back of a stationary vehicle on Toorak Rd, near the
intersection with St Georges Rd, about 7.45pm. The driver, a 38-year-old Port Melbourne woman, was taken to a police station for an evidentiary breath test. Her licence was immediately suspended after she returned an alleged reading of
.287. It is expected the woman will be charged on summons in relation to drink driving and other traffic matters. It is an offence to drive a motor vehicle if the blood alcohol concentration in your breath is higher than the prescribed amount.
