CYCLISTS HIT: YOUTHS CHARGED
■ Four more youths, including a 13-year-old boy, have been arrested following an investigation into two cyclists that were hit by a car in the south-eastern suburbs. Officers were called to Beach Rd, Cheltenham, about 5.20am on Tuesday January 23, after a cyclist was struck by a vehicle. The 51-year-old Aspendale man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He was released on Tuesday January 30. A 72-year-old man from Bentleigh East was then struck on Beach Rd in Beaumaris a short time later. The vehicle again allegedly failed to stop, and the second rider was also taken to hospital with serious injuries. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition. A Holden Astra – believed to have been stolen from Preston on January 21, then allegedly used in the incidents – was recovered in Black Rock the same day. Police arrested two 16-year-old boys in Noble Park, about 7.30pm on Wednesday last week (Jan. 31). A boy from Noble Park has since been released from hospital and charged with armed robbery, and theft of a motor vehicle. He was remanded to appear in a children’s court at a later date. A 16-year-old boy from Clyde North remains before the courts. Following further enquiries, Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested four youths at various locations about 7.30am Friday (Feb. 2). ■ A 13-year-old Hampton Park boy was charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle.
■ Detectives from the Missing Persons Squad have charged a man with murder following the suspicious disappearance of Colombian national Sergio Cuesta. A 49-year-old Mt Eliza man was arrested by Police on Tuesday last week (Jan. 30) and has subsequently been charged with one count of murder. He was to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court. Warrants were executed at properties in Mount Eliza and Cranbourne shortly after 2pm on Tuesday (Jan. 30). Three firearms, a pill press, various quantities of what appear to be dried cannabis and cocaine, cannabis crops, a crossbow and a conducted energy device were seized from the Mt Eliza address. A 48-year-old Cranbourne man also interviewed by Police was released pending further enquiries. Colombian national Sergio Cuesta, 28, disappeared just over four months ago.

Dandenong man charged ■ Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision in Rowville. Emergency services were called to the intersection of Wellington Rd and Braeburn Pde following reports of a multivehicle collision just before 9am on January 11. It will be alleged the truck collided with a grey Kia Stinger before continuing on and crashing into another two stationary vehicles as well as a power pole. A fourth car was damaged when the pole fell onto it following impact with the truck. The driver of the Kia, a 52year-old Rowville man, died at the scene. The occupants of the other vehicles were uninjured. The driver of the truck, a 27year-old Dandenong man, was not injured and stopped at the scene.
