Alarm over homeless ■ Homelessness has increased alarmingly in Pakenham and Cranbourne, according to a report from the Council to Homeless Persons.
Homelessness doubled across Pakenham (113 per cent), Cranbourne (111 per cent), and Oakleigh (101 per cent), said the report using figures from Census data.
“"This report underscores the urgent need for targeted, substantial investment in social housing and homelessness supports across Victoria," said CHP CEO Deborah Di Natale

"We are witnessing a clear and alarming escalation in homelessness in Victoria, highlighting a picture of stark inequality across both metropolitan and regional areas."

Frankston Council is delay the planned Langwarrin Child & Fam ily Centre and Response to Long Street Reserve Petition Report to July 31 to allow additional time for further investigations. At last week’s Council Meeting (June 14) there was a Report on the need for a Kindergarten Strategy and the planned next sites for kindergarten upgrades; Baden Powell Preschool in Frankston South and Seaford Kindergarten. Community engagement will follow the Council decision, which at this stage is likely to start in July. With the State Government’s announcement on increased accessibility to three and four year old kindergarten commencing from 2025, it is essential Council thoroughly considers all options, a City representative said. “This ongoing investigation into the options for a Langwarrin Child & Family Centre will provide adequate time to consider the Early Years needs for the Langwarrin area and will ensure all aspects have been considered prior to a Council decision on July 31.”■ Three teenagers were arrested on Tuesday last week (June 13) after a string of crimes. They have been charged with a number of offences.

A 16-year-old Cranbourne teen has been charged with:

■ commit indictable offence whilst on bail.
The trio have been remanded in custody to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
A group of up to six teenagers entered a fastfood restaurant on Whitehorse Rd in
Nunawading about 2.20am on Tuesday, June 13.
It is alleged they threatened staff with knives, stole cash and damaged the front window, before fleeing the scene in two vehicles.
The teenagers allegedly entered another fastfood restaurant on Burwood Hwy in Vermont South and threatened staff with weapons.
One of the vehicles was allegedly stolen during an aggravated burglary at a property on Fermanagh Rd in Camberwell on June 11.
Meanwhile, Police are continuing to investigate two aggravated burglaries overnight on June 11.
