Fire pit at S’vale ■ A ceremonial fire pit and symbolic sculpture has been unveiled in the heart of Springvale. The firepit, titled ‘Waa and Buln Buln Corroboree’ is an important focal point of the Springvale Community Hub. Cr Angela Long, Mayor of the City of Greater Dandenong, said the artwork is a significant symbol of commitment to recognise the traditional owners of the land. ● See Page 3

■ SUSAN Bissinger has been announced as the new Nepean Ward Councillor for the Mornington Peninsula Shire. She will join Deputy Mayor Cr Sarah Race representing communities in townships including Rye, Tootgarook, Blairgowrie, Sorrento and Portsea.

Pakenham pursuit

■ Police have charged three teenagers following a pursuit in Pakenham on Friday morning (Apr. 16). Investigators arrested the trio, all aged 17, after they observed an allegedly stolen white Jaguar travelling on Henry Rd, Pakenham about 1.45am. The vehicle was monitored by the police airwing before IT came to stop in Officer South Rd, Officer. ● See Page 3

The extraordinary vacancy occurred due to the resignation of Cr Hugh Fraser on March 9. The computer countback was hosted by the Victorian Electoral Commission on Tuesday last week (Apr. 13). The vacancy was filled through a countback of all the votes from the October 2020 general election. Only candidates who were unsuccessful at the general election, and remained eligible, could be included.
