The ocal incentives program offers 25 per cent back on eligible purchases across the City of Whittlesea as part of a campaign to support local business. Consumers can claim 25 per cent back on eligible transactions when they spend at least $50 at a City of Whittlesea business. It’s All Here and incentives program offers the opportunity to get out and discover all the local businesses in the City of Whittlesea. Administrator Chris Eddy said he hoped the program would inspire the community to think local first and explore Whittlesea. “We are home to approximately 18,000 businesses in the City of Whittlesea. The past two years have been challenging and the $150,000 incentive program will help give back to the community and support business locally,” he said. “We’re one of Melbourne’s largest and most diverse municipalities and we have a lot to offer locally, Mr Eddy said.

Melbourne artists gathered at the Capitol Theatre on Monday last week (July 11)to celebrate the 39th Annual Green Room Awards, recognising the achievements of the arts across all disciplines Artists from Darebin Arts Speakeasy and Darebin FUSE Festival programs walked away with six wins, including five for Speakeasy shows and one FUSE Darebin show, in partnership with the Municipal Association of Victoria. Darebin Mayor Cr Lina Messina was at the event to celebrate the awards for our creative artists. “During a difficult year impacted by COVID19 and Melbourne lockdowns, Darebin and its arts programs continued to empower Australian artists to share their important and diverse stories.” Cr Messina said. “The Darebin community is thrilled to have these creative individuals recognised by their industry peers. Sanaghan claims

■ Darebin political activist Brian Sanaghan is claiming $800,000 from the Council as compensation for the ban placed on him from attending City meetings. “I am an innocent man whose career as a politician has been destroyed. My reputation has been destroyed. My health has suffered irrecoverably and my right to pursue happiness in the twilight of my life has been taken from me,” Mr Sanaghan has told the Council in a cease-and-desist letter. Mr Sanaghan is also claiming $500,000 in “exemplary damages”.
