■ Ongoing delays on the Hume Hwy near Donnybrook Rd have been slammed in State Parliament by Northern Metropolitan MLC Evan Mulholland. In a comment to Roads Minister Melissa Horne, Mr Mulholland said: “t is the thirteenth time I have brought this topic up in this place this year, so it will be familiar to you, President. “It is on Donnybrook Rd in my electorate and the desperate need for duplication, but I am also seeking the action of the minister to explain the recent change near Donnybrook Rd in Kalkallo travelling north, from 100 kilometres an hour on the Hume Highway to 80 kilometres an hour, which is supposedly due to exit congestion on Donnybrook Rd,” Mr Mulholland said. “ So not only is Donnybrook Rd impacting all of my constituents in Mickleham, in Kalkallo ... in Donnybrook and Woodstock, it is now affecting everyone travelling north on the Hume Highway. “It is slowing down our entire transport industry because of this government’s lack of action on Donnybrook Rd. They are literally slowing the entire state down. When you are heading north on your summer holidays, heading to northern Victoria or heading to New South Wales on the Hume, and you are stuck in traffic around Donnybrook Rd, know it is because this government has not duplicated Donnybrook Rd.

● Evan Mulholland MLC “The Mickleham side of Donnybrook Rd was actually duplicated by the Liberal Party, because we under my colleague the former Minister for Planning Matthew Guy signed a developer contribution agreement so that we worked with developers to duplicate the Mickleham side of Donnybrook Rd. “What does Labor do? They change that policy to ban developer contribution agreements and not use them, so the Donnybrook and Kalkallo side of Donnybrook Rd is an old farm track. The bridge over the Hume is a disgrace. It is one lane each way. Traffic grinds to an absolute halt,” Mr Mulholland said.

● Annabelle Cleeland MLA ■ Euroa MLA Annabelle Cleeland last week presented a petition to State Parliament, calling for recurrent funding of Goranwarrabul House in Seymour. “Despite the enormous benefits it provides to indigenous families across North East Victoria, funding for this crucial program has yet to be confirmed beyond this year,” Ms Cleeland said. “Goranwarrabul House provides food relief, court and legal support, medical support, cultural support, referrals, transport, and they are the only local option for Aboriginal Liaison Officers at hospitals in the region. “Forty-five families rely on Goranwarrabul House for food support each week, and over 100 people attend services each week. As it stands, this community group will no longer be able to operate without an increase in their annual funding to cover wages, vehicles, rent, maintenance, and general supplies, while also allowing them to host their support groups, outings for children, and their NAIDOC events,” Ms Cleeland said.
