MITCHELL HAS 13 ACTIVE CASES ■ MITCHELL SHIRE’S proximity to Victoria’s Coronavirus hot spot, Hume City, has led to ongoing Stage 3 restrictions for at least the next four weeks. Residents in Mitchell municpality have been ordered to stay at home, except for essential visits for shopping, work, exercise and care.

Mitchell Shire has been hit with 33 cases of COVID-19, with 13 of the cases being regarded as “current”, according to figures released on Monday this week (July 20) by Premier Daniel Andrews and Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton. The Hume municipality has registered 593 cases, with 286 of them being active. Whittlesea has had 253 (155 current). Greater Bendigo has 14 (4); Macedon Ranges Shire has 14 (5). Nearby, Murrindindi and Strathbogie have had two cases each. None of them are current. Regulations come into effect at 11.59pm tonight (Wed.) that require Mitchell Shire people to wear face masks when they are outside.

● Chemist Discount Warehouse Centre Seymour advises of a staff member testing positive. ■ The effects of Coronavirus in Mitchell Shire are real, local and believable. The Chemist Discount Warehouse outlet in Seymour confirmed that a team member had tested positive to the Coronavirus. The pharmacy is located at 68-70 Station St, Seymour. The store had a thorough ‘deep clean’ on Saturday (July 18), and re-opened for business on Monday (July 20). One new death was reported in Victoria on Monday: a woman in her 80s. To date, 39 people in the state have died from Coronavirus.
