● Nicole Werner, Warrandyte MLA
■ Warrandyte MLA Nicole Werner says that local parents have raised their concerns about rainbow reading kits in local libraries. “when they use library services they do not appreciate topics of sex and gender being discussed with their children without invitation,” Ms Werner told State Parliament last week. “Their stance is that public libraries should not be a place for activism and that it is inappropriate to require taxpayer-funded government staff to approach little children to ask about their gender without parental consent or permission. “Yet the rainbow toolkit assumes that every family is ready and willing to talk about these questions, with children as young as five being asked about their pronouns at the door. “In a multi-cultural state like Victoria it is neither culturally sensitive nor appropriate to deprive parents of their right to approach sensitive topics like sex and gender with their children in the way they deem fit according to their culture, values and background,” Ms Werner said.
‘WOKENESS WILL STRANGLE KNOX’
■ Rowville politician Kim Wells says that the City of Knox’s Australia Day ceremony risks being permanently axed, and he has asked that voters consider that when they choose Councillors at the October elections. “At the end of October Knox Council will hold its council elections, and voters in the Rowville electorate will play a significant role,” Mr Wells said. “The council elections will decide the direction of the council for the next four years. “I would like to remind the ratepayers in the Rowville electorate that before they cast their vote they should focus on what matters to the ratepayers and what role council should play in the lives of each ratepayer. “For starters, back to basics – rates, roads and rubbish. “Under the current Knox City Council we

● Kim Wells, Rowville MLA have had to endure the axing of the Australia Day awards. “There is no question that next on the Knox Council chopping block will be the Australia Day citizenship ceremony. “My office has received numerous complaints about the fortnightly bin collection, with most residents wanting to go back to the weekly bin service, and the haphazard management of our crumbling roads. “Therefore I would like to encourage all council voters in Knox to take the time to research the local candidates for their wards and see what they stand for and what they would do for the City of Knox. “It is time for a different direction, because wokeness is strangling the current Knox Council,” Mr Wells said.
