Mercedes van tracked through eastern suburbs
■ THREE occupants ran from the car in Union Rd, Templestowe, after a chase through Toorak, Box Hill and Templestowe late on Sunday night (Sept. 6). The Police air wing guided ground units to all three occupants’ hiding places. Police were called to a suspicious vehicle in Toorak around 10.45pm. When Police attempted to intercept the white Mercedes van, the driver took off. Local units, assisted by the Dog Squad and Air Wing, tracked the vehicle to Templestowe.

Police allege the van was stolen and bearing stolen number plates. A 51-year-old Templestowe Lower man, a 26-year-old South Yarra woman and a 20-yearold Richmond man were all charged with theft of motor vehicle, theft from motor vehicle and commit indictable offence whilst on bail. All three were remanded in custody overnight and were due to face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday (Sept. 7).

■ Detectives are appealing for assistance as they investigate a robbery at Croydon Railway Station last month. Investigators believe a 42year-old man was waiting for a bus when he was approached by an unknown man about 5.15am on Wednesday, August 19. The man assaulted the victim and stole his backpack before fleeing. The victim sustained non-lifethreatening injuries during the incident and was transported to hospital for treatment. Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the incident. The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged in his 30s, and had a distinctive haircut with shaved sides and a goatee style beard.
