DRUG BUST AT LOCAL SHOPS

■ A QUANTITY of methylamphetamine was found inside a vehicle parked outside shops in High St, Cranbourne, on Friday night (Nov. 26). Police charged a 30year-old Hampton Park man with possess and traffick methylamphetamine.

Officers from the Dandenong Frontline Tactical Unit were involved in two separate incidents in Cranbourne . The first incident occurred when Police observed a white Toyota Hilus in the car park of the shopping centre on High St about 5.20pm. Police spoke with the driver, searched the car, and the man was charged. He was bailed to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on May 4. Shortly after 7pm, officers intercepted a silver Holden on High St as part of an operation targeting weapons offences.

The 19-year-old female driver from Cranbourne East returned an alleged positive evidentiary breath test of 0.189. The woman who was a P2 driver, had her car impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1042.40 She is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving. Officers from the Southern Metro Division 3 Frontline Tactical Unit, along with Transit Safety Division and local police, will continue to patrol the southern metro area as part of the ongoing operation.

Radio legend reunites with media mates ● John Vertigan (pictured right) has an enviable media pedigree including a long stint as the racing radio co-ordinator at 3UZ in its prime. These days John is retired at Rye, but keeps busy with activities such as talks to Probus and other service clubs. Twice-a-year, John meets with colleagues at the Survivors Club, who are veterans of the radio, TV, recording and press industries. He is pictured with Paul Nicholson (left).

Man charged with murders ■ A 55-year-old man has been charged with the murders of Pakenham woman Carol Clay and Drouin man Russell Hill. Greg Lynn, 55, faced Sale Magistrates’ Court for a brief hearing on Friday morning (Nov. 26) after he was charged on Thursday over the couple’s disappearance in 2020. Lynn did not apply for bail.

Police requested until mid-April to build their brief of evidence against Lynn, who was arrested at a remote campsite in Gippsland. “We’ve located a specific area and we will be establishing a search perimeter in the coming days and we are hopeful we will locate the remains of Mr Hill and Ms Clay,” said Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Bob Hill.
