MP’S NOD TO LOCAL OLYMPIAN

■ CRANBOURNE MLA Pauline Richards CRANBOURNE MLA’S PRAISE has spoken in State Parliament about “In unison with the entire Cranbourne comlocal Olympian, Brooke Stratton. munity and especially the various athletics clubs “It might seem like a long time ago, but during the depths of a cold Melbourne winter in July and August this year many of us were consumed by the Olympics in Tokyo,” Ms Richards said. “As the temperature plummeted and everyone was staying at home to keep each other safe, many Victorians tuned in to the Olympics and became consumed with the joy of competition. “We also became reacquainted with the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect. “For those of us in Cranbourne it was with particular pride that we watched Brooke Stratton compete, because she indeed encapsulates all those values.

that train at Casey Fields and on behalf of every Olympics fan in a community I want to reiterate my massive congratulations to Brooke for her outstanding performance. “A two-time Olympian and world championship finalist in women’s long jump, Brooke has been an inspiration for young women and girls in Cranbourne and in Victoria’s long jump community. “Brooke came seventh in the women’s long jump final. She jumped a massive 6.83 metres, or more than four times her height end to end. “I spoke to Brooke on the phone and I must say I was impressed very much by her attributes. I want to congratulate all Olympians but particularly Cranbourne’s Brooke Stratton. We are very proud of you,” Ms Richards said.
