■ FORMER Cardinia Council Mayor Cr Collin Ross says councillors through meeting procedure, have been using policies and emails to harass and bully councillors. “In my opinion we have an unsafe workplace to voice any opinion of difference,” Cr Ross told last week’s Council meeting. Cr Stephanie Davies seconded his motion calling for a Monitor, but she voted against, as did all other Councillors except Cr Ross and Cr Carol Ryan. Cr Ross has been a Councillor at Cardinia since 2008. He describes himself as an ‘independent’. He represents the Central Ward, and lives in Pakenham, raising four children. He has worked in the area for more than 20 years. His Facebook page cludes a photo of him wearing Mayoral robes, sitting being a name plate stating ‘Mayor’.

● Cr Brett Owen, Mayor ■ Citizen Andrew McNabb last week asked Cardinia Council about the use of the mayoral car. “Can you please show me and explain where in the by-laws and councilor expense policy over the periods 2008 to present, that states that the Mayor car can be used for personal use? Can you please provide the clause and number and a hard copy provide of the relevant clauses?” Mayor Cr Brett Owen replied: “The provision of a mayoral vehicle has been included in the councillor expenses policy for many years although not explicitly mentioned in the policy it has been accepted practice that the vehicle is available for private use if required. “In the updated policy recently adopted this matter has been further clarified,” Cr Owen said.
