Play and discover at Hills Hub at Emerald ■ The Hills Hub, together with the Emerald Library, will host a free ‘Play and Discovery’ morning for local families this morning (Wed.) Families are invited to attend a morning full of arts and craft, play and discovery, while learning more about the range of services on offer at both the hub and library. A number of free activities will be available
at the Hills Hub and the library throughout the morning including bubble blowing, Puffing Billy Toy Library play sessions and a scavenger hunt. There will also be an indoor play area set up for pre-schoolers, a second-hand toy stall and live musicians. Cardinia Shire Deputy Mayor, Ranges Ward Councillor and Casey Cardinia Librar-
ies board member Cr Jeff Springfield encouraged families to go to the Hills Hub and Library between 10am and 12pm. “The Hills Hub is a fantastic, accessible and integrated facility that supports volunteer, community and local business groups. It also provides a great location for community, arts and social events,” Cr Springfield said.

Child abuse bust in SE ■ A 52-year-old male from the South Eastern suburbs, alleged to be in possession of over 317,000 alleged child abuse files, has been charged with one count of possess child abuse material and two counts of access child abuse material. A 38-year-old Springvale man was charged with possess prohibited weapons after imitation firearms and other weapons were located during the execution of a warrant. ● See Page 3

■ Mornington Peninsula Crime Investigation Unit detectives are hoping to identify a man who produced a firearm during an attempted armed robbery in Capel Sound. The incident occurred at a food store on Illaroo St about 12 Noon on Good Friday. An unknown man approached the front counter and produced a dark-coloured firearm that was concealed in his pants. The man pointed the firearm at the staff attendant and made demands for cash. The male victim then triggered an audible alarm and the offender put the firearm back in his pants before fleeing empty handed. The man was last sighted walking south along Boneo Rd, Rosebud 10 minutes after the incident. The victim was not physically injured during the incident. Detectives are investigating whether the man used an imitation firearm. The man is described as having a thin build, approximately 180cm tall and was wearing a black jacket with a brown fur hood and a white ‘FOX’ motif on the back and front.
