At its core, it is a cops and crimes mystery, but the solution to the crime on page one weaves through layers of political intrigue, romance and high-tech domestic espionage. What appear to be touches of science fiction are actual projects currently be-

Triple Crown of 1973. Now the fundraising must pick up the pace to ensure that the monument will return to Ashland later this fall.

“Secretariat’s story truly would come full circle if this monument is placed permanently in Ashland,” said Kate Chenery Tweedy. Her grandfather Christopher Chenery grew up in Ashland and attended Randolph-Macon Col- ing revealed to the public as this novel rolls off the press.

Set in contemporary Virginia, “Inhuman Nature” was written by homicide investigator Larry McCann, who has been involved in the investigation of over 2,000 murder cases around the globe in his 47-year career. He takes you on a thrilling ride through the latest techniques of serial murder profiling, cutting-edge technological innovations and dangerous political intrigue lege, as did generations of the Chenery family. He founded Meadow Stable in nearby Caroline County where Secretariat was born on March 30, 1970. Kate’s mother Penny Chenery, the beloved “First Lady of Racing” managed Secretariat’s spectacular career. She and many Chenery relatives are buried in Ashland. Kate Tweedy lives in Ashland and is the chair of the Secretariat For Virginia that reaches into the halls of Congress.

Retired Virginia State Police Special Agent Larry McCann served for 30 years in various positions with the VSP – the governor’s Executive Protection Unit, crime scene technician, bloodstain pattern analyst, hostage negotiator, and psychological profiler while simultaneously working on fresh and cold homicide cases. In retirement he was a violent crime consultant and vice-
