About 240 Hanover County Public Schools’ bus drivers attended the required four-hour safety meeting Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Lee-Davis High School morning. These drivers were honored during a luncheon for having had perfect attendance last year.
The smiles on the faces of Atlee Station YMCA members said it all as they exited a closed meeting held with Y officials last week. “We got what we wanted,” said one member of STAY (Save the Atlee YMCA), a community-based group formed to keep the facility open after officials announced its closing last month. The fledgling Atlee Station site received a reprieve from YMCA officials, who announced that an agreement with leaseholder HHHunt had been reached, allowing it to remain open for two years.
