Charles and Nancy Turnage of Mechanicsville, serves as president of the National Honor Society and secretary of the National Beta Club. She is a member of the Senior Class Council. An International Baccalaureate (IB) candidate, Bonny participates in several athletic activities. She is captain of the cross country team, indoor track team, swim team and outdoor track team. In the community, Bonny is a volunteer at Covenant Woods, a local soccer referee, a volunteer for the Pamunkey Regional Library system and an independent Latin tutor. She will be attending the United States Coast Guard Academy, where she will study operations research and comsee L-DHS, pg. 28

Gandy reading specialist named Teacher of Year By Jodi Deal jdeal@mechlocal.com John M. Gandy Elementary School principal Leigh Finch tried to keep it a secret that reading specialist Christina Saunders would be named Hanover County’s Teacher of the Year.
However, Saunders knew something was up when she arrived for a “very important meeting” teachers were called to after school dismissed on Tuesday, May 14, purportedly to discuss Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) tests. see TEACHER, pg. 4
