Hundreds of Hanover County residents paused on Sunday to recognize the men and women who have served this country. It’s become an annual tradition at the Hanover Veteran’s Memorial, and a nearrecord crowd turned out for this year’s Veteran’s Day wreathlaying ceremony at Hanover Wayside Park. “We had a great turnout this year for a great event,” said Jack Ward, one of the organizers. “It shows just how much this community values its veterans.” The program featured a familiar face at the keynote podium. Brigadier General Larry Gilman provided the address, a poignant reminder of just how much veterans have provided their fellow citizens. Gilman noted the importance of the American soldier in preserving almost every principle citizens hold near and
dear to their collective national hearts. “We couldn’t live here in this wonderful land of freedom without the service and sacrifice of soldiers and their families,” Gilman said. He recalled the words of U.S. Marine Corps chaplain Father
