Decades of unwavering commitment to engineering innovations have enabled Rolls Royce to put sustainability at the core of their Pathway to Net Zero strategy. A prime feature of this is their work undertaken into the electrification of flight, represented in ACCEL, (short for “Accelerating the Electrification of Flight).

In November 2021, their zero emissions “Spirit of Innovation” aircraft broke three world speed records, clocking up a maximum speed of 623 km/h which they believe makes the ‘Spirit of Innovation’ the world’s fastest all-electric vehicle.

In addition to being a key strand in Rolls-Royce’s pathway to net zero strategy, ACCEL aims to inspire young people and stimulate their interest in STEM related subjects, especially relevant in the Middle East where the success of economic diversification is based upon creating meaningful careers in engineering, science and technology.
